Actually, it COULD have been a “Big Win/Smaller Win” gambit based on how she thought the crystals worked at the time… but I don’t think Sunny has that much of Twilight/Celestia in her. The idea would be that if she lost, then she would just mention to Alphabittle that “Those two fit together, you might want to display them like that.” or even “Here, let me show you.” she wouldn’t have even needed to retain possession of them. Granted, that could have ended up with Alphabittle as the King of Neo-Equestria, because he could have controlled when magic did and didn’t work, or even started a nasty three-way war (the Unicorns are the least prepared for it), but it also could have turned out to be “better than it was”.

She’s lucky the other guy got so cocky.

Sunny betting the Pegasus crystal on her game against alphabittle is a reckless, awful risk she shouldn’t be taking. I know she needed to wager something alphabittle wants to win, but this is insane.
