Oh, by the way, the author of this song, José María Pemán, wasn’t a fascist, BUT he was an anti-Semite, and he never opposed Franco regime. Still, the song by itself has nothing to do with fascism and racism (unlike the song “Cara al sol”; this one IS a fascist song, without a doubt), but it must be clear that its author was a nasty piece of work.

I know I’m late, WatermelonRat, but I must tell you that the song is not fascist. The song was written in 1928, and it was later adopted and altered (“alzad la frente” for “alzad los brazos” and “los yunques y las ruedas” for “los yunques y las flechas”) by the fascist regime, and today it is often sung by the scum that supports the Franco dictatorship, but the song itself is not fascist. Its case is like that of the swastika, the symbol was adopted by Nazis, but the symbol itself has nothing to do with Nazi ideals.
Also, you will probably find very ignorant people telling you, one way or another, that the current flag of Spain is intrinsically fascist. That’s completely false; this one, with the black eagle, is the flag of the fascist Spain. The one you’ve used is the good one, the flag of the free and tolerant Spain.
