While a PC is cheap and flexible, it’s precisely that flexibility that makes Macs look like a piece of shit. Why pay $5000 for a glorified video camera screen when I can pay $1000 for the equivalent of a cheap Swiss army knife?

If you have a Mac for home use, the only thing that might bother someone is the lack of flexibility. A factor that tends to bug a few techies. But in terms of capabilities, A Mac is pretty much right there ever since Macs’ changed their source code. And Macs are hardly difficult to use, I’d dare say they’re more user friendly than a PC, which requires far more backhand knowledge to get proper use from.
 
Much of this is my opinion of course.
 
If you want something reliable, get a Mac.
 
if you want something cheap and flexible, get a PC.

Have you ever heard of the phrase ‘crippling overspecialization’? It’s where you focus on one thing to the exclusion of all else to the point where you’re awesome at one thing but shit at everything else. Apple has crippling overspecialization. You actually need a degree to use it right, since every other part of the computer is made from arse hairs and boogers.

PROFESSIONAL. Wait, let me type this again just so I can make sure that you read it, PROFESSIONAL sound editors and PROFESSIONAL film editors use macs. I work for a small studio, we use macs for our sound and film because a PC just can’t compare. Trolling around with you “hurr, durr, Team Fortress 2” trolling doesn’t change this.
 
Yes, for everything else, a PC is likely to be better, but if you want to do professional media work, you’re going to be using a Mac.

I happen to like the OS, but it comes bundled on hardware that is too much money for too little substance.

A run in the mill Mac can[t compare to a PC but for specialization like sound and film editing, a Mac can’t be beat.
 
And it seriously bugs me how folks are speweing their assumptions and biases as if it’s a cold hard fact, written in stone.

Some people have real issues with companies that triumph form over function, especially when they have as much of a pull in the tech industry as Apple does.
