Okay, let me ask a simple question: When, in the show, has it been mentioned the alicorns are immortal? I can understand them being long-lived but immortal? If that’s the case then why would Cadence (y’know an alicorn) marry Shining Armor (a unicorn) when she was going to watch him die of age? Why would she marry a mortal pony? I want you all to think about that.

You’d be surprised, as most of the people I’ve talked to about it are either supportive of the concept, or are on the fence due to the execution.
 
My only concern going forward at this point is that the writers do nothing with Twilight’s “alicorn”-ness.

When the season 4 finally hits, both pro- and anti-twilicornists are so deep in their bunkers that nothing will change their minds.

I think we should argue about twilicorn for a change.

Then the best that can be said is that they were dealt a bad hand. It doesn’t change the fact that from a narrative viewpoint, this is like having Harry Potter defeat Voldemort in book 4. Sure he can still do cool stuff around Howgwarts for three more books, but it’s lost a big part of the overarching theme and focus.
 
I’m sure there will be plenty to enjoy in Season 4 and beyond, but with such a jarring, poorly executed change it loses a lot of the little things that made the series so appealing in the first place.

Ah! Ah, now that completely vindicates my feelings on this! She does say that she wanted Twilight to become Celestia’s successor, but she also says that she wanted Rainbow Dash to join the Wonderbolts and the CMC to get their cutie marks and so on. This reinforces my point earlier: The alicorn transformation happened at the entirely wrong time. Once a character has “achieved their destiny” there’s only so much more a story can be told about them. People’s worry is that by trying to maintain the same episodic slice of life format after that had already occurred, the show will have lost its focus.

Dude, when they made S3EP13 they had to do it with the thought in mind that it would be the final episode of MLP. No pony G4 after it. Never again.  
That was also possible if Hasbro had decided so.  
Thankfully they didnt and so Twi´s alicorn final became an alicorn ascension mid-series.

If that was the case, I’m doubtful it was intended to happen mid-series. I could actually see her turning into an alicorn and becoming a princess at the absolute peak of her character developement after an accomplishment that utterly dwarfed anything before it. The idea itself isn’t entirely without merit, but the way it was handled, and the fact that they’re going to try to keep the series going after what should have been the absolute climax of the story is what dismays me.

The brony documentary or a different one? Because I watched the brony documentary and saw nothing of the sort.
 
As for the element of magic being a tiara, I’m skeptical that that was an intended hint. I always saw it as being to distinguish her as the “uniter” of the elements. Using that as justification seems a lot like George Lucas’s “Oh yeah, I always meant for Luke and Leia to be siblings” to me.

The way I heard it Return of Harmony was the last one she directly worked on and that she was only a consultant until the end of season 2. I’d still like a link for direct confirmation.

The episode was written when Faust was still working on the show. Also, Twilight getting a crown for the element instead of necklaces was a hint for that.

Yeah, Twilight becoming a princess is Faust’s idea from the start. The only thing that changed from her time is that Twi becomes an alicorn princess instead of a unicorn princess.

If anything, Studio B is trying to stick with her original vision somewhat.

Given that the artist’s English is substantially better elsewhere, I strongly suspect that this is a stealth troll.

I find it funny how people say Hasbro included Twilicorn to make money without recalling that this whole show is just a really good toy advertisement.
