Screening for twin pregnancies and selective abortion of one twin is one of the most common procedures performed on mares. It’s called ‘pinching’ and it’s done to so one of the embryos can go on to develop normally. A twin pregnancy is very dangerous for a horse, much more so than for a bovid for an example. Even if a twin pregnancy is successfully complete, twin foals are much more likely to be small, fail to thrive, or have developmental problems than singleton foals.

You must be thinking of leporids who actually are capable of fetal resorption.
