G5 Dragons appear to be just a Pony model with a longer neck and a squarer head, it’s disconcerting to a lot of people given how wildly variable Dragons were in G4.

The official comics are all canon, they just don’t appear to have any connection to the show’s continuity. Y’know, exactly like the G4 comics, and the G3 comics, and the G1 comics.

TL:DR: This feels more like “A” Spike, not “THE” Spike.
Honestly I really wish this was how they were going to do it: use the promos to troll everyone into thinking this is G4 Spike and then the actual episode is Sunny being crushed like little horsefly to find out he’s just a Beast Wars Megatron who took the name of a legendary leader of the 2D past into the 3D future.

If it helps you sleep at night, you can put that tag on the filters to never see Spike in g5 anymore.

The more they try to tie G5 into G4, the less it works.

I’m obviously not opposed to Spike being the dragon leader some unknown number of years later, but the dragons don’t look like dragons, they look like ponies and nothing like what they have looked like in G4.

I’m glad this has a Spike (g5) tag since I would have insisted there be one for him since he never looked anything like this in G4.

Now they really have to explain what happened to Equestria now that they’ve invoked Spike like this.

The more the story progress in MYM the more the G4’s epilogue becomes less canon.
