Probably because singing animals>singing teenagers in terms of whimsy, that or our media has had so many singing teenagers over the years that they’ve just kind of become humdrum. I think there’s something on TVTropes that covers it, but I’m not sure.

While I freely admit this is personal prejudice, the music just seemed so much more enchanting coming from ponies. And I don’t totally know why.

I think that they should have given them some variances in body types, and given a couple of the girls some pants instead of mini-skirts and giganto-boots.  
Other than that and the cheesy, inoffensive kiddie rock music, it looks OK.

I still maintain that there’s no reason to set it in the human world, but I’ll be damned if that doesn’t look like fun.
