Why people want to a character nobody has paid for is beyond me. Some people are better as writing characters than others, particularly when there is little info to go on, or if they have free reign, as i said below.

Well yeah, but she isn’t exactly in a most desirable situation. Being made from a former eldritch horror and all. Past sins is not the best fic I must admit, even with edits, perhaps it got attention because of the fact that Twilight was on a noose on the cover.
As I said, it all depends on the writer.
If you want a good Nyx Fic, go read Nightmare night and Nyx, by Realitycheck. It is very long and wordy, but it is hilarious and very touching at points. Nyx also has to deal with her fears of not being a real pony and a sect that plans to kill her, all in a single night. Also, changelings.
Step 1. Proceed to rap Nyx in the bed sheets, and tie a tight knot to make sure she doesn’t get out.
Step 2. Drive to the nearest lake
Step 3. Throw in the water
I think the reason that people don’t like her is because she got a ton of fanart and people got jealous, or felt she didn’t belong or didn’t like the dark tone or whatever, and then spread lies to those unfamiliar to the story.
Any character, canon or not, can only be as good as the people who write them. Background charecters like Derpy, Lyra and Octavia, or even canon charecters, like the mane six, can have differing personalities or backstories, depending on who writes them.
Look at all the fics starring Princess Luna before her episode. There were thousands of different iterations for her, and few of them even came close to canon.
You shouldn’t hate on something because someone tells you too. You should hate something because you know them, and have reasons for hating them. That doesn’t mean you have to enjoy it, just don’t try to ruin other’s fun. Isn’t that why you came to the fandom in the first place?

As for the situation, check on her to see if she is alright. Once she wakes up, talk to her and have a heartwarming friendship montage.
