What’s the difference between a Democrat and a Republican?
 
The Democrat thinks the Republican politicians are crooked. The Republican KNOWS the Republican politicians are crooked…but just slightly less crooked than the Democrat politicians.

Eh, honestly I don’t think Democrats or liberals are any better. Especially ones promoting overly-political-correctness, (which just leads to more “racial-tension” ironically) and getting so obsessed with the environment that they think if you so much as throw out a piece of paper, it’ll blow up the planet.  
I’m all for helping the environment, but some go overboard, and put the well-being of say a bug, over that over a human. In fact, the liberal enviornmentalists in California won’t even let you own a ferret as a pet in that state, afraid they’ll escape into the wild, breed, and destroy the eco-system, even though they’ve been domesticated for ages. (And that’s never happened in any state where they’re legal to keep as pets.)  
Heck they tried to make circumcision, and Happy Meals illegal in San Francisco, California (my former home-state) is so messed-up now.
 
Not to mention doing things like liberal teachers expelling kids from school for playing with a toy gun, or making their hand shaped like a gun, (yes that actually happened, several times) because they’re SO afraid that a 5 year old is going to go on a shooting-spree, because they’re so afraid of guns, and violent video games…  
(In fact, Democrat Hilary Clinton backed-up Jack Thompson on his anti-video game crusade.)
 
Not saying conservatives don’t have problems either, I just get sick of how left-wingers rarely ever regard that they have their own, as well, and do stupid things, as well.
 
Still, I think we should keep politics out of pony. I honestly can’t stand how divided this country is… I honestly think both liberals & conservatives have problems, and people shouldn’t blindly side with their political party on every issue, and should come up with their own opinions.

With Derpy in US politics as the plot? Nah, too much xenophobia hard-coded into the governmental structure. (I’m pretty sure you can’t even be a janitor in a governmental building without being a legal resident of the US for 3 centuries.)

Think I’ll go read this column; as a conservative myself, I have to agree with this opening that far too much of modern conservatism has become, well, detached from reality.
 
Also, I have to wonder what Yamino and other “derpy” haters think of a respected liberal columnist using what they decry as a slur against the mentally challenged.

According to Urban Dictionary, derpitude means an extreme case of derp (acting stupid). In the political world, “derpy” has effectively come to mean “bring up the same points despite appearance of new evidence”.

I now want to see a fanfic titled “Moral Derpitude.”
