Then to use your own words, a good song could have made us care about a bad villain. Sunset Shimmer’s evil plan fluctuated between the vague and the generic; a song making her seem like a legitimate threat would have been a welcome reprieve from another reprisal of This is Our Big Night. Or was Time to Come Together/Helping Twilight Win the Crown the one they did a reprisal of? They all sort of blurred together there at the end.

I know and they should have known that Sunset is going to fail when they were told about the settings. Its a good slice of life movie but with a Villain said villain is going to look weak. So a villain song would have made up for a lot of the flaws that sunset had

Not all villains need a song… Unless it’s an animated musical. Then it’s kinda weird not to give them a song.

Considering how many other completely forgettable songs this movie gave us, they could have spared the two or three minutes it would take to make us want to remember Sunset Shimmer. Hell, they could have used it to tell us her motivation, because it’s been weeks and I still have no idea what she was trying to achieve, or how she planned to go about doing it.

Sorry but that’s not really a good argument, not all good villeins need a song and not all villeins with songs are good, in fact there can be a bad villein with a good song and it’s only the song people care for.

You’d think they could have worked one in, what with all the other songs they had.

Discord Nightmare and Sombra did not really need a villain song and there was not enough time. Sunset on the ther hand needed it badly. Heck if Chrysalis did not sing in this day aria she might not be popular as she is now

…You guys DO KNOW how much work it takes to write a song, correct? You people act as if it’s as simple as jotting it down on a napkin…

Nightmare Moon or Discord didn’t have one either. Songs take a lot of work to make them as memorable as “This Day Aria”, so they’re not going to give every villain a song.

That’s actually an excellent point. WHERE’S THE VILLAIN SONG, HASBRO? YOU SAID THERE’D BE VILLAIN SONGS.
