That’s because many people seem to value being sure of yourself (even if you’re wrong) than to be thoughtful and change one’s mind when new information is presented. The phrase “Thanks for your feedback” will net a Youtuber high praise for humility and the ability to “take criticism” when in reality that phrase is the easiest way of shutting down criticism and ignoring it completely. That’s because these people want other people to stroke their heads and say they’re a good boy/girl/whatever. Which is why backhanded reassurances like “this is only my opinion” or “I respect your opinion” are so beloved. And that’s pandering. That’s being dishonest with your viewer-base and completely failing to engage with them in any meaningful way. Talking about subjectivity has always been a worthless platitude that exists entirely to terminate any sort of thoughtful discussion so that the person who made the statement in the first place doesn’t have to put in any of that tedious thinking necessary to actually have a conversation instead of demanding a stalemate because they don’t like hearing that the things they like aren’t as good as they think they are. Even when there is nothing forcing them to listen to it, or even absorb it,”
