What I want to know is whence the fanon of Braeburn being gay. Is “cheerful and energetic” some gay stereotype that I’m unaware of?

But please tell me you won’t act as trigger happy as you did here and as you do every time. You don’t even know the first thing about who, when, why made some of these pictures, but you’re delighted to pass out judgement based on quick impressions.
 
I don’t want to have to worry every time I uplad a sad-Derpy pic or an old ship or meme because people can’t be assed to check the source before they rage.

You need to understand, for the longest time during season 1, there WAS no viable male character (apart from the sole Big Mac - that is where the “Mac’s harem” and “everypony’s a lesbian” jokes comes from). So perhaps so that there is an alternative, and because he and Lucky Clover sorta-interacted with Rarity in “Best Night Ever”, the unnotable background pony Caramel was elevated to the role of a 2ndary male love interest. You gotta admit that with his hot hair-do and more normal body type than Mac’s, he does give the impression of one handsome looker. He was shipped with Twi two seaons before Flash Sentry even existed, and with some of the mane six too. (Even CaraBon had one or two artist supporters.)  
So because Mac and Caramel were the the male duo in a townful of mares, I guess it was funny to have their bromance go into romance and leave the girls hanging. :p (And who else was there to be used for yaoi?)

PS. For those who are new, or who had forgotten:  
Caramel’s sexuality was an in joke during season 1. (He was commonly shipped with Mac. Mac was shipped with everyone sure but Caramel was the “gay” route.)
 
So this just had to happen after she was shown with a GF in “Hearts And Hooves Day”. (This was his and Sassaflash’s first shared appearance.)
 
I’ll give you ten points if you even remember that the girl’s name is Sassaflash.
