Feeling Pinkie Keen ended with the most infuriating ethical note I could have imagined for a children’s show
 
Crystal Empire was a fucking stupid two-parter that made Celestia look astonishingly short-sighted and petty.
 
Too Many Pinkies needed to be retooled to make any sense.
 
Spike at your Service made half the characters look like assholes, contradicted previous canon and invented traits for Spike that did not exist before.
 
Games Ponies Play had a HORSESHIT resolution that baffled me in how entirely it failed to make any logical sense.
 
But Magical Mystery Cure?
 
Marvelously paced, award-winning music, an emotional DYNAMO with breathtaking visuals.
 
I criticize it for the confusion over Starswirl’s spell and its intended effects, but they can still potentially explain that later.
 
I’d also criticize Twilight’s evident lack of say over whether she’s transformed or not, but I actually think the writers made the right decision, because the surprise of it all and the brilliant emotional pace of Celestia’s Ballad would have been snuffed out entirely the moment she just up and explained what was about to happen. I really don’t know how you could have gotten out of that.
 
And some people criticize it on the grounds that it’s too soon and unnecessary, and should have happened while under threat. And ignoring my previous talks about treating the episode like a series finale, I actually think this was more powerful and appropriate.
 
You see, here Twilight isn’t becoming something she isn’t ready for in order to counter a foe. It’s peacetime, there’s no obvious threat. That is to say, Celestia put her to this last challenge… simply because she was ready. She believed Twilight was on terms to prove herself, and nothing more. It makes her worthiness of her title more potent, because it means Celestia doesn’t even QUESTION that she’s prepared at last.
 
So don’t give me this complacency bullshit, like I’m just not being critical. It’s not complacency that puts a bug up your ass, it’s just the fact that we don’t agree with you.

Yes, because CLEARLY Twilight’s ascension wasn’t planned from the very beginning of the fucking series, to the point that her element was a fucking CROWN. Oh yeah, I’m sure Celestia’s plans all along were just for her to be the town librarian or an advisor.
 
I mean yeah, fuck them for trying to give the show a potential ending and some closure, right? I mean, just in case there wasn’t going to be a 4th season, since three seasons were all that were guaranteed in the original agreement.
 
Seriously, even the writer on the comic series is tired of this shit.
 
You want to bitch about the show being pimped to sell toys? Bitch about Equestria Girls, because that one was LITERALLY thought up in concept by Hasbro so they could compete against Monster High.
 
Of course, flawed as THAT movie was, I still thoroughly enjoyed it, even if I’ll concede that enough good and bad exist in it for any opinion for or against it to be valid.

I did. I watched the episode. And it was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen—from every possible aspect. A blatant shoe-horned “plot” meant to make Twilight a princess to sell more garbage toys. We all know it, even if some of us deny it to ourselves.  
This “deal with it or leave” attitude and using buzzwords like “drama” is just part of a complacent attitude from people who are afraid of conflict and think all opinions are arbitrary. And that’s just it: complacency. That’s not a virtue. Why should I do that?
