He’s not a complete idiot, but he misses the mark and the point on nearly every point he makes. He’s not stupid, but you can fill the flaws in his arguments by the gallon.

If they talked to RD first, there wouldn’t have been a MDW to back Rainbow up in time, it’s as simple as that.

I’m going to based my opinion based on actual research and my own underestimating of the show, I don’t need someone telling me what to think. Why is everyone thinking so deeply about this? When did this get so serious?

And, I’ll maintain that their plan would have been perfectly justified if they had at least tried talking to her first. I know, you’re right, she would have blown them off. But it’s the principle of the thing, damn it!
It’s just the way I was brought up. Skipping straight to deceit is never a good idea. A lack of communication just makes things worse. And who knows? Maybe if Rainbow Dash knew her closest friends disapproved, she would have toned things down. But, they didn’t even try. It just didn’t sit well with me, and makes the actions that follow just seem bitter, and cold.

It’s a plan that only would’ve worked on Rainbow. You seem to have a past prejudice that has nothing to do with the show, and that’s not really fare at all.
They “deceived” her because they didn’t want fame, and they needed to have a pony that could do the same things that RD could do. It took three of them to match one Rainbow.
Not to mention that the “deceptions” saved lives in the process, something that Rainbow didn’t care about for the longest time.
Rainbow made an ass out of herself all on her own. She was desperate for attention and the other ponies were getting sick of her attitude.
Rainbow is a mare that needs to be shown, not told. talking would’ve done nothing, and the times where she failed would’ve been devastating because there would’ve no pony to back RD up. They saved RD from herself, she was the one that did everything bad, all MDW did was save lives. That’s all they did.
Again, you need to call the entire team shitty, because they were all involved.

My definition of a good friend isn’t someone who will take it upon themselves to teach me a moral lesson in humility by deceiving me into making an even bigger ass of myself and utterly destroying my reputation with everyone and everything I care about. My definition of a good friend is not someone who will knowingly push me to frantic desperation as I near the emotional and psychological brink, and finally, my definition of a good friend most certainly is not someone who, after doing all of this, would have the spine, the utter balls, to expect me to say “thank you” for teaching me a “lesson”.
If my “good friend” did that to me, I’d knock their fucking teeth out. Face it, that was a shitty episode written by a shitty writer.
How is backing her up when her ego made her fail humiliating her? If they didn’t dress up as MDW to back up Rainbow, somepony would’ve been seriously hurt.
They needed a pony that could match Rainbow. There isn’t one, so they needed to be in disguised because they didn’t want fame, and Rainbow would’ve been jealous of her friends. They knew her pride would make RD make mistakes, but they didn’t want the fame behind it, so they dressed up.
And don’t blame the writer, it’s asinine to think that one person is responsible for this, especially since the process of making an episode involves everyone.
The director get’s an idea, the writer writes up a script, they do drawings and the story boards, then they pitch it to the director, the director then throws the script away, and tells them, with sticky notes, what to change.
If you’re going to blame the writer, blame the entire show for teaching that arrogant pegasus some much needed humility.
