Oh, yeah, forgot about Cheerilee’s line in panel 3. I’d probably translate it as something like “You wouldn’t enjoy looking at my stuff.” By the way, the characters around the speech bubble are the sound effect for sweat.
so it’s “..is not a photo of you?” then. with you and boy mixed up.
“..i was young” is “..you are young”
i have no idea how i messed up the last line.
‘sore’ is ‘that’ but i thought i got ‘dake’ correct.
so what is cheerilee saying in panel 3. i got “i had no idea you were so [couldn’t translate sorry]” but i knew i must have screwed up somewhere as the kanji was contradicting the grammar.
Just a couple of corrections that’ll help with the joke if you don’t mind.
In panel 2, Big Mac is saying to Cheerilee “Don’t you have any photos of yourself?”
The last panel is actually Big Mac saying “…You’re young, aren’t you?” and Cheerilee saying “That’s all!!?”
thanks. that’s actually really helpful.
“is that you when you were small?”
“eeyup”
[heartbeat sounds]
“..is not a photo of boy?”
“i had no idea you were so [couldn’t translate sorry]”
“is that so?”
(by the way this is token flirtation in japanese drama)
“but hold on”
“zoom”
“here’s a photo of teacher”
“eyup”
“boom” (noise of doom)
“err”
“i was young and..”
“what the hell is that?!”
translated thanks to the kanji source you gave me but unfortunately one of the kanji wasn’t in it’s database and i had to find it by stroke count.
stroke count source:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_kanji_by_stroke_count
My bigest problem was the first pannel, mac didn’t look very different from what he is now.
Yeah, it’s insane to try to find a specific kanji from that wikipedia list. It’s a lot easier to search by radicals.
Ya know, if you can’t translate it, you don’t have to post that.
And even without any knowledge of Japanese it’s easy to get the comic’s plot.
i really wanted to translate this for you but i’m not good enough at it sorry
can’t read what mac says in panel 2, cheerilee in panel 3 and apple bloom in panel 4. and without that the whole context is lost.
without knowing enough kanji i can only try and guess what the word might be and put it in english in a translator and hope for a match. there are thousands of kanji so looking up the japanese word and matching the symbol would be an insane task.
if you feel up for it be my guest
here is a good reference for kanji
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_jC58DyC58D_kanji
the other two alphabets are hirigana and katakana and obviously romaji (the latin alphabet).
if you match up the symbols then put them in a translator like google translate should give you a close enough translation to understand the context.
