@ClownDicks
Because toy companies think that the product has to actually be in the show before dumb kids will buy it? I doubt things like continuity etc come into the equation.
@Itsthinking
What if they didn’t put Rainbow Power in the show at all and let the toys do their own thing, like the Batman cartoon did with its silly gimmicks?
@Bolan
Wouldn’t it be more hamfisted if they didn’t allude to it throughout the season at all and never bothered to make it seem important?
This seems like the standard “here’s a basic idea of what we want, how do you want to do this” formula that has been around for a while in the animation industry.
This seems like nothing to get hyped about, just another pretty toy design being forced into the show for all of one episode before we get back to normal.
So basically, this whole epic magic box season-long arc is just an excuse to promote a new tonline? How good to know how much the show has evolved since that lame season 1!
@ClownDicks
Kind of reminds me of Spyro. Skylanders only used his name to launch a new franchise once it became successful. If they can sell glam rock dolls in 2014, they can relaunch Jem. That would be truly, truly, outrageous.
@Background Pony #4F01
See, I thought it was too but I’m pretty sure they cleared a bunch of that up some time last year. They also got a little bit of G1 back IIRC.
@Itsthinking
Actually, I think the rights to Jem is in some weird limbo. So they just stuck rainbows and glam rock to an already popular line and let it fly.
@ClownDicks
Twenty-something males and little girls inherently like different things. “Gaudy” things and bright neon is in. It’s been in for quite a while and isn’t going away anytime soon.
@ClownDicks
Probably are testing the waters to see how a Jem relaunch will do.
