Not really, the animation it’s really basic (characters almost never change expressions, even in serious scenes) and while the basis of the story appears serious, it’s mostly just Sonic and co. rocking out. Althought the second season picked up a little with better animation and Knuckles appears on a couple episodes, but I can’t remember which ones. Basically, it’s not bad, but it doesn’t even come near to SatAM, which I believe it was one of the reasons why I didn’t like it as a kid.

I kinda liked Underground. It wasn’t great, but it was fairly entertaining, and Sonic’s brother and sister in it were nice character. Also, it had a great theme.

It’s less a matter of the writers “sticking Twilight everywhere” than of them sticking the mane 6 everywhere, I think. Of the two episodes that haven’t featured all of the mane 6 so far this season, one (“Flight to the Finish”) didn’t have Twilight at all, and the other (“Pinkie Apple Pie”) only had her in the beginning to give Pinkie a reason to discover that Apple family tree.
As for putting Twilight on a soapbox, I’m not really sure where you’re going with that. In “Daring Don’t”, I think it would’ve been more fitting if Fluttershy had been the one to give Rainbow Dash that pep talk, rather than Twilight, but otherwise I can’t say she’s been ill-used this season.

Yep, even Knuckles. His odd stature makes sense because he’s the heavy hitter of the original trio, and it adds variety to the protagonists. It probably throws people off since he has roughly the same face as before but with a really wide chest and tall body breaking the standard character profile. It might need some tweaking, but I do think it’s a solid choice.
Honestly, I am a bit less comfortable with the Twilicorn concept than I was prior to S4. I think it’s because it set the S1 mandate of sticking Twilight everywhere into overdrive and at times has put her on a soapbox that should have been ironic like in earlier seasons but seem no longer to be….
But yeah I actually really like Sonic Boom’s character designs.
There’s actually a branch in there. Some people quit, or just never accsept. I’m midway between both camps. Not really impressed with S4 so far. Honestly the S3 ending and EQG really left a bad taste in my mouth.
Now that my little cousins have stopped watching the show, I’ve lost my excuse and have to decide if the story is worth it by it self.
Season 1 and 2 I would have said yes. Now? IDK.
I miss the old Twilight, and the old episode style.
@Darpie
I like the Sonic Boom designs. I don’t mind Knux looking “stronger,” but I think he’s a li’l to tall/huge now.
And actually, I have seen some who are fine with the redesigns. (And as stated they’re only going to be for the “Sonic Boom” TV show, and it’s game tie-in.)
