Is anyone else disappointed they wrote the Rock Lobsters’ dialogue like generic Jersey thugs? With those mustache-like feelers I keep imagining them with outrageous French accents.
Cutscene incompetence.
Although I get the feeling Celestia just humored them to let Spike figure out a solution and not feel useless, as he’d expressed concern over just being a sidekick a few minutes before. If they were in actual danger, Celestia would break out immediately.

i actually asked the writer of the story. she said she is responding to the level of threat they impose…………
presuming that means she isn’t blasting them and celling their meat to griffon for a profit is because she knows they really aren’t a real threat.
And she couldn’t just paralyze them with magic and move on because?…{Come on, Twilight did it to her friends. It took little to no effort on her part.}
Twilight could levitate an Ursa Minor and blast away at changelings and a freaking Tatzleworm. Celestia’s got to be able to top that.

Nothing, I just don’t think it will be all that surprising. I want to be surprised, it these comics rarely do, usually they are just completely stand alone romps.
In my mind, EU is in continuity unless addressed in show. And considering the writers of the two talk to make sure they don’t step on toes, well…
That said, both sides have said the comic may not matter in terms of the show, that the former is in the latter’s sandbox.

Yeah, I think the pop culture references and parodies are a bit too much sometimes. IIRC, that’s one of the things that the show staff is really adamant about keeping to a minimum.
I don’t know what to think about the “Dark Mirror” arc, especially considering it’s a Celestia origin story apparently.

Biggest problem with the comics: They do stories that they know the show could not pull out because of different reasons, but lack the creativity and charm of the show staff to make them shine.
Sure, there are moments were they actually make something pretty good like the Big Mac arc or the Rarity micro, sadly the undiscriminate ammount of parodies and random pop jokes makes them fall into the Simpsons Syndrome of using those as synonim of comedy.
Why do these authors suck so hard? Surely they can come up with a more fitting predicament for a mighty magician than “lol random brigands cahptchor dem haha”.

Going by the logic you’re using, the only thing we’ve ever seen Luna ever actually beat were three Roal Guardsmen, and she had to be the Nightmare for that. In these comics she gets licked by Rarity, so she must suck even harder than her sister.
Tartarus has no connection to Celestia. Also Luna and Celestia blasting Sombra with a bright beam in a time when they would have had the elements… yeah they used the Elements.

she beat sombra with her sister at least. not to mention who knows how many other dark enemies that arose during the course of that millenium. also, though she had help, she did fight off an entire army at least once, and helpd back their attacks long enough for civlians to flee before her barrier began to wane.
she does not suck. she ismply has not been given the oppurtunity to shine or demonstrate her power………. its the writer’s fault for that. then again what happens when you create a threat powerful enough to threaten a demigod and leave it that only violence can defeat it?

That’s Celestia’s problem exactly. She used to be the main character, and because of that she would always win. These days though, she’s only a part of the supporting cast, meaning her only role is to hand out cryptic bullcrap and get jobbed to make Twilight look good.

we do not exactly know where celestia went during that. she could ahve been captured, but evidence shows that nightmare moon would not be able to seal celestia to the sun; even celestia needed the elements. but she did force celestia to use them in the first place.
queen chrysalis herself admitted that it was only because she got jsut enough power from shining to overpower her. if celestia did nto rely on a wrestingly match of magic her actual magical education would ahve trumped that.
the vines had consumed the magic of a tree so powerful tghat it held the entire everfree forst an its secrets in check…… if anything discord relying on that shows that the regal sistes were formidable enoguh that he could not stop them directly.
and whom she defeated. a thousand years worth of dangerous foes and mosnters man. unless a world with eldritch forests, demonic beasts, and sinister ursurpers did nto attack equestria during all that time. especially when it would have changed from the regal sisters being their biggest obsticle, and celestia isntead.
She sorta sucks now, but a millennium ago she and her sister did pretty much everything. They used to be the protagonists of the world, and have a ridiculously excellent track record.
