You mean the days that’re right now? Those aren’t even fedoras; none of the nerds can tell the still-untarnished crown of Indiana Jones from giant fabric douche nozzles, and it’s just a shame that the Internet as a whole still makes the same mistake.
@Itsthinking
As one such person, I beg to differ; instead of lying low, I prefer to encourage the Socratic method of critical thinking. There’s just too much subjectivity dominating modern philosophy, for either “side” to be any better than the other.
@Takashi.0
They became the ones that try to stay out of everything. Some try to try bait because they know what gets a rise out of people, others just lay low.
@Itsthinking
So what about those who grew up in conservative homes, surrounded by liberal media, and came to the conclusion that both sides are insane?
@Justy
No, I’m serious. You can look up Tena’s post about it (it got 10k or so posts, should be easy to find.)
A Tumblr user and 4chan user come from the same demographic that just splits off at a certain point during a contact with Internet culture. This certain group will either go down the Tumblr/Reddit path, or the 4chan path.
The thing is that the average social issue blogger isn’t that different from 4chan. It’s just that instead of being extreme right-wing with the only shred of liberalism being a “do what you want” attitude towards sexuality, (save for /pol/) they are the inverse.
But again, ironically it is both that are victims of “4Chan Syndrome:” they associate things they dislike with a certain caricature and can’t enjoy something if their perceived caricatures do. They’re also contrarians that hold their views strictly because they were drawn into their unpopularity. The worst Tumblr users grew up in conservative households and associate it with their social failure and resent it. The worst 4chan users grew up surrounded by liberalism, and associate their disconnection with the world with it, so they become conservatives.

I love how some say it’s “unmasculine male nerds clinging to an outdated gender role/machismo” while at the same time they perpetuate a culture that essentially says women are useless and weak and can’t be subject to the same treatment as everyone else.
So essentially, another outdated gender role, just presented as “progressive.”
Don’t even get them started about how hatred of men doesn’t exist and that weak men are stupid if they don’t support feminism.
@Takashi.0
Where do you go? Hating people with autistic traits while at the same time demanding equality and wondering why no one is following them is the average Tumblr user’s bread and butter. I cannot tell you how many times I see shit like this and then some sort of rant about how people need to be less judgmental about how others dress, and completely un-ironically too.
Tumblr and 4chan have a LOT of similarities, and hating autistic traits/people is one of them. Ditto for both religion and atheism/irreligion.
@Itsthinking
Tenafly put it best when she said something along the lines of how it was the “pocket protector” of the new generation because it’s become the symbol of undesirable nerds.
