Yes I didn’t like the shipping because of something selfish. So what? I’m a waifufag. But I also at least tried to give a counter idea for what the “reflections arc” could’ve been and not the disgusting insulting blame celestia for everything and make it all her fault and ship her with some bland Gary stu just to piss off people bullshit that it was
@Background Pony #7543
I didn’t say that. I’m saying it’s frustrating to hear people praising it for “highlighting her flaws” and “showing her as imperfect” when she’s never been shown as such.
And it’s not really a good writing that you have to highlight someone’s flaws or give them such trite cliche shortcomigs to show them as a character.
The reflections arc could’ve been her reflecting on the burden of her position as princess or her having to have made difficult decisions in the past and reliving those events in an alternate world made by her and (the evil alternate celestia being the manifestation of her doubts regrets and fears) and finally making peace with the help of starswirl and her sister making all right in both the mirror world and her world. No contrived selfish “true love” romance crap necessary. No selfish teenager like bs and no having her being shoved aside and made to look horrible selfish brat.
But this arc is just disgusting at how she’s the cause of the story’s conflict the cheap romance was forced and insulting because he’s just perfect and flawless and has no character whatsoever and the comic even insinuated that it was Celestia’s fault for Luna’s banishment.

She already has made mistakes. But this wasn’t like those other times. It was a blunder that even Twilight probably could’ve avoided pretty easily.
But what bothers me is that it clearly contradicts the show and the movies. Celestia managed to screw up another alternate universe just by visiting it? And what does that have to do with her alternate turning evil? The plot is an absolute mess.

She’s never been shown as flawless and to me it was just a lame character assassination. They made her look dumb foolish selfish and weak. When she’s supoosed to be wise and powerful and the shopping was a horrible part to. It was just a bad lazy half hearted excuse of a “celestia arc”. And the worst part is that, that is it… There’s never gonna be another celestia arc, THIS is what we have to go on.
@SeraphimDawn
Well I liked it. The dark tone, the tragic ending, and Celestia actually getting some depth to her character instead of being depicted as a flawless generic big good character; it exceeded my expectations of what the comic was capable of.
@Millennial Dan
It’s more about the general poor writing of this issue.
I think most of this fandom can take canon shippings pretty well, if they are well written. But frankly, none of them are in this series so far.
@fifthcru5ader
Meghan on SDCC said that they want to keep those universes connected and they consider using a character from comics or any kind of reference. She said that characters that exist in the comics exist in FiM Equestria too.
Basically you can treat them as different universe until they really reference them in tv show. Then it will be one merged universe.
