@Background Pony #A024
Anonymous being shortened to “anon” is not a 4chan thing anymore than “bro” being short for brother is.
“OP” being “original poster” has been around since people could post on message boards, as has “TS” (thread/topic starter) and “FP” (first poster)

Yup. The parts inside the slashes (/mlp/, /b/, /co/, etc.) are different message boards there. So a “/co/mrade” is someone who hangs out on the /co/ (cartoons) board.
Here’s another one: since fans of the ponies often posted on the /b/ (random) board, they started calling themselves “/b/ronies.”

There’s a lot of 4chan slang in here. I’m sometimes surprised Derpibooru doesn’t have any official connection to them. The “>>implying” thing, “anon” for “anonymous”, “waifu” for “character you’d date”, and, heck, even the abbreviation “OP” in this context all came from there.

As I know the story, someone on 4chan meant to write “OP is a dick” but instead wrote “OP is a duck.” The typo stuck, I guess because it’s kind of a fun one.
