@Starswirl
That, and his going along with Twilight’s dorky dancing, are why I don’t mind him as a character. Still think the implied crush was unnecessary, forced, and cliched, though.
@Prof.NightJack
You know what’s sad? Flash Sentry actually did something stupid—he ran into a door because he was too busy making googly eyes at Twilight.
@Background Pony #CFE9
Yes, they want a Gary Stu and don’t get why people actually like him as is and would just hate him if he was made into a Gary Stu.
@Starswirl
Oh heavens no! They just don’t want him to do anything stupid or wrong, or for anything bad to happen to him unless it’s a problem for him to overcome, and they want him to save the day more often and have all the characters to frequently express how much they love him. Totes different. Totes. I promise. Seriously.
@kassarc16
As long as you admit good things do happen to him and understand he’s no more a butt monkey the some of the ponies, you can think that if you want, just don’t act like he’s never given a chance to shine.
@kassarc16
Only to people that don’t know what a butt monkey is.
A butt monkey ALWAYS has bad happen to them as part of the joke, when good things do happen to them they are not one.
@Psychopomf
Not like Spike had reasons to play off any harm as nothing in order to be as useful as possible to someone he feels affection for or anything.
@Prof.NightJack
Really? Something positive cancels out everything negative? Are you sure about that?
