I’m not saying there’s a right or wrong way to headcanon a character’s race, because honestly it’s open to interpretation, preference, etc. For example I tend to (subconsciously) associate the voice actor’s race with the character. But choosing to view a character as a certain race might be weird, might be stupid, but it does not make you an “absolute piece of shit”. If I want to personally see Twilight Sparkle’s race as FUCKING GUNGAN I will do so and that does NOT make me an absolute piece of shit. Seriously, this ‘artist’ can just leave and take bun’s close-minded antiquated views with… ber? Bun? Who cares.

Want to complain? These people are the same kind that eat up Monster High, which partially exists so that the “why didn’t you make the doll this race instead you racists” argument is moot. EqG follows the same precedent. It just so happens semi-human dolls sell insanely well AND there’s no awkward PR!

It’s a rather nasty double standard. It’s fine to headcanon characters as certain things and certain things only. If you dare to headcanon a character as something else, though, YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE PIECE OF SHIT!

I almost thought one of those Diverse MLP Headcanon guys had gotten their duckery vaccination, but of course it’s an edit.
 
Though in my experience, a headcanon also requires straps and a strong enough neck to support the weight of the barrel.

Much as I prefer to keep my views inline with the show and the characteristics and personalities displayed in the show. I can certainly confirm that just about everyone else says ‘bollocks to logic and facts, I want it to be this way’.

Wouldn’t that make 99.9% of headcanons invalid?
