Well, yes, but Discord has shown pride most strongly, condescendingly talking down on others, as well as toying with others emotions and relationships for his own amusement.
Obviously Chrysalis fed on love not lust, that was obvious. I just thought she fit into the “Lust” category, because of the whole love motif, as well as her ‘devouring’ love, but giving none in return.
I chose Tirek for gluttony due to the used imagery, as well as the fact that he wanted to keep ‘eating’ magical energy until there was none left.
“sometimes overanalysis makes you see things that aren’t there”
Really? Really? Are you being serious? You are a moderator of a brony site. Overanalysis and crazy headcanons are what we do, even moreso than many other fandoms. You should know that.
I am aware of the fact that many of these sins are interchangeable (due to all villains being, well, evil), but this is just a little idea of mine, nothing truly impactful.
@Princess Luna
I disagree with a few things there, but mostly the idea that the ponies don’t need their magic. From everything we’ve seen, it sure looks like they can’t get by without it. They’d have no seasonal changes, no weather control, no magical agricultural advantage, and most noticeable, no day and night cycle.
Nightmare Moon, Tirek, and Chrysails also failed due to pride; Sombra is, so far, the only villain who hasn’t fallen due to their pride giving the heroes an opportunity.
Chrysalis was eating love, not lust. These are extremely different things (lust isn’t even necessarily sexual, it can be an intense desire for anything), especially in the context of sins (Christianity’s moral stance on love and lust are literally polar opposites).
Also, gluttony is something Chrysalis is far more guilty of than Tirek. Gluttony is literally desiring food to the point of taking it away from those who need it. Ponies don’t actually need their magic, but they do need their love. Tirek was also only taking their magic as a means to an end (the end being power), whereas for Chrysalis the thing she was eating was the end.
tl;dr:sometimes overanalysis makes you see things that aren’t there, and seven deadly sins analogies is one of the most common pitfalls.
@The_Mungoman
Even so, I kind of doubt that we’ll be getting a Sloth-based major villain any time soon, so The dragon is a good placeholder for the sake of a complete set.
I’m Pretty sure Sunset Shimmer is also Envy, and the dragon from Dragonshy is Sloth, because the threat he posed was caused by him sleeping and they had to go wake him up.
Now we just need a wrath villain to complete the set.
