Yeah, but the whole base of the Spy’s personality is “Refined French jackass who tries to appear serious, but has the sense of humor of a twelve-year-old.”  
Spy loves to tell people how better he is than them, and laugh at their misery, Pinkie… well, does quite the opposite.

Her personality would draw her to the delusional pyroland, yes, but that seems kind of flimsy to base the entire crossover on if you could do better.
 
Pinkie is more than candy and balloons, she also uses gadgets, hides toys around town, throws parties, bakes pastries, apparently does side work as a fortune teller, predicts the future through spasms, sings songs, blows on horns, and can be really sneaky when she wants to be. There, we’ve just basically stated she could be Engineer, Demoman, Spy, Pyro, Soldier, Scout, and to a lesser degree, Sniper.
 
Really, if you consider Pinkie Pie extensively, there isn’t any one class she could not fit somehow.

Well she does think in felt, and she’s got a personality that matches the pyro’s delusions. Also, Pinkie Pyro is a natural pun.

Yeah, but since when did Pinkie hallucinate and visit a pyro land-esque dream world while setting things on fire? Pyroland is her kind of place, but it is itself a result of pyromania, therefore so long as we could argue the characters are insane, really anypony could be Pyro.

I still think Pinkie fits Heavy better.

I don’t get Pinkie Pyro myself. So he’s crazy, big deal. Wouldn’t Soldier, Scout, Heavy, Demo, or Medic work just as well? Really, all the mercs are at least a little crazy, those are just the ones higher on the list.

Only time when I’m okay with Pinkie not being pyro is when she’s using her Portable Party Cannon as demoman. Also one of my favorite demoman quotes.
