You don’t need to get angry about it. I’ve just never seen or heard them use the term once in the show or comics, and it’s only really become popularized through fanfiction and art. Also, really, they’re not JUST insects, they’re clearly equine-like to a degree (the official guidebook even refers to them as a type of pony). And anyway, there’s nothing wrong with having a different interpretation on their society.
@Magic Man
… They’re insects… They have a Queen… Saying they have Hives isn’t a theory, it’s a fucking observation. Even if they don’t call it a hive, a rose by any other name…
I imagine so, they’re sentient/sapient pony-like creatures with rights. I mean, hell, DRAGONS roam free. I imagine everyone is entitled to some degree of creatures rights and Celestia has relaxed somewhat her restrictions on Visas to the changeling kingdom.
Err, that’s a bit of a stretch for me though, since there’s no canon evidence or indication whatsoever of other “Queens” (and the whole ‘hive’ idea is really just one theory amongst many).
But even then, the changeling’s presence here is most likely a side gag, not really meant to have any major significance. I think we’re overthinking it a bit.
@Miss Shy
I imagine that in Earth Pony settlements/events like Manehatten and Applecon, they’re a bit more reluctant to bow down to royalty and hereditary status. I based this on no evidence whatsoever.
