honestly, this shit nearly made me denounce the title of brony until the fandom redeemed itself, but I was smart enough to continue digging around for information on the matter and found it was fake… excepting the dude being throttled of course. (but that guy that did that has lost all face with the brony community, so I’m glad we’re not apathetic about that.) now I just hate haters more than ever.
Can’t really blame people for being defensive when the original tumblr post was of dubious quality and did not provide specifics
Instead of taking to tumblr full of anger mjolkk should have taken it up with the convention staff because as the said. They take matters like this seriously
Instead we get a unnecessary firestorm where rumors and gossip fly and details on the situations are being failed to be provided until it’s too late. Where people type the almost at this point cliche responses of
“This is why bronies are terrible people”
“Wow I’m never going to a pony convention now”
“I’m 1000% done with the fandom now”
While some of the behaviors may have occurred at the convention slandering the convention as a complete failure and making the claims that the behavior was rampant when reports say otherwise does not service those who worked on the con, attended the con and where guests at the con and the convention as a whole. All based off of 4 isolated incidents some of them varying in severity.(that’s just my opinion)
I’m glad that the details came out but I grow tired of the accusatory tones people gave others when they found certain things questionable, it’s not being defensive it’s being skeptical.
I sincerely hope that something like this does not happen again. It’s just ridiculous.
One of the biggest problems with the world today is that we have large groups of people who will accept whatever they hear on the grapevine, just because it suits their worldview—not because it is actually true or because they have evidence to support it. The really striking thing is that it would not take much effort to establish validity in most of these cases… but people prefer reassurance to research.
“I formally apologize for acting like an asshole.”
it’s okay
“Well, that guy did still get choked”
i am not sure, but i think that was one of the fake stories. but id much rather prefer if we forget about this. it’s better for everyone
so, what did she expect to gain by posting all this shit online? Shoudn’t she have talked to someone? Also she SHOULD have spoken up in regards to the rape joke, seriously.
And it’s rather unfortunate that all this happened and I like that she admitted to making the post rather hastily.
Though I do believe this was something that should have been taken up with the head of the chair immediately instead of going to tumblr to express themselves.
