It also didn’t help that he was not only Twilights first love interest but the first time Twilight has ever been shown showing romantic affection ever in the series. While that it has a certain charm that it was on a human so yes if you hit the gym purple horse will like you, for all the fans of the series that threw them for a curve down WTF boulevard. I mean if Twilight got or hit on other pony stallions as a common feature of her life in a casual way than the whole she danced with Brad thing would have blown over.
 
I think it wasn’t just Brad, it’s that they screwed up how we view Twilight and relationships. Getting weak kneed for a interspecies partner would not have shocked anyone if Twilight was a character that happened to as a point of character before the movie.
 
Instead they acted like it was true loves first kiss and made sure that no other Twilight love plot line would have the same impact nor carry the same weight. You don’t just get back your first love plot.
 
TLDR” Hasbro sacrificed their Queen for a Pawn in the third move.

Yeah that would be tragic if he weren’t a fictional character. He should be evaluated like any other fictional character and as one he’s a failure because he adds nothing to the show in any way.

Twilight having a love interest is ok, but that character should be introduced as a character in their own right first instead of literally the first interaction between the two being a generic meet cute. It might be tolerable if he was introduced in a way that made it seem like there is any sort of chemistry between them but there frankly isn’t.

Taking aside his inclusion as ‘Brad’ in the godawful pointless romantic subplot in the human world, his pony form is actually pretty cool and cute. I’d really enjoy him as a stallion character if he had an actual purpose in the pony world.

Luna may be the closest to a tragic character in-show, but from a meta perspective the only one who tops Flash is Derpy.
