The difference being, one ‘side’ is trying to enjoy a kid’s show they like for what it is, while the other is trying to accomplish… what exactly at this point? Getting everyone to hate what they hate? Show other fans how they were ‘right all along’ and alicorn Twilight ruined the show even though it’s clearly not accurate for those of us still here?
 
That’s why people have no patience for this kind of thing anymore. The show has moved on and so has the fandom. No one is forcing you to come along if you don’t want to, but asside from generating negativity, this drama subject is tired and pointless.

How long do you have to be standing on the dock all alone before you accept that the boat has sailed and everyone else has moved on? It’s not “a pro-Twilicorn argument” at this point, it’s an “anti-still-bitching-about-a-done-deal” argument.
 
Larson has said that he specifically wrote MMC to be the Final Episode but left it open enough that they could come back if they got renewed, so the story direction was almost certainly “we’ll make her a princess in the last episode of the series” all along (at least post-Faust); I would have preferred that route myself, but dude, it is seriously two years later and time to either start swimming or just go back home. Nobody’s forcing you to stay and watch a show that perpetually pisses you off; you don’t have to like it, but the reality is what the reality is, and continuing to beat the metaphorical horse out of spite ain’t gonna make it any less dead.

Twilicorn isn’t a bad idea per se, just poorly introduced, but arguably well used (except for the alicorn part) IMHO.

Precisely. Both sides are guilty of this insipid generalization, but as an example, anyone who has said ‘how could people still be complaining about Twilicorn?’ or ‘never going to change’ is just being idiotic.
 
We don’t know the intentions of the writers, nor do we know how well they will handle certain story elements. The latter is effected by the simple concept of past and future.

Back when the S3 finale aired, we didn’t know how Twilight being made a princess was going to effect MLP:FiM. Now, we have a whole season and a new season, along with plenty of other source material to make judgement upon. How is it that so many people can’t understand the difference between these two simple concepts and arguments is beyond me.
 
However, I suspect that people say those kind of things cause they want to ignore the fact the fandom is divided by this subject due to valid arguments on both sides. Some might honestly disagree with all points on either opposite side, but many would just rather ignore them and use arguments that ignore past and future to cut people off. After all, some people want to avoid critiquing at all costs, and sometimes just about specific areas/characters.
 
And this is not just exclusive to Twilight being a princess, another example of existing or prevalent issues people bring up are “Why have they not given Fluttershy more backstory?” or “Why do they continue to make RD dance around being a wonderbolt?” Princess Twilight is hardly the only example of continuous issues, although it is the most prevalent in the show for various reasons.

(***That is, assuming that certain points where the writing quality has valid points against it weren’t intentional. S4 combined with Rainbow Rocks hardly had a clear cut theme. Sometimes the scenes portrayed Twilight and her role in a positive light (especially during the endings) and a lot of them portrayed Twilight and her new role in a negative light. There are many ways where points with large and valid flaws could be accidental and/or not considered, but every so often, it can be a sign of a theme reversal. This usually occurs when a character’s main theme is questioned by the character him/herself, or a new main character is presented to give a fresh perspective)
 
Simply put, if different problems continue to arise from the same source, its only natural to address them. Debating is fine, but things like this image above (points up) is not helping either point.

Yeah, this is hogwash. The passage of time is what allows us to determine if something is a bad idea in the first place. Most ideas aren’t automatically good or bad, they need to be tested, and that takes time.

It’s an hourglass. So the formula basically says that a bad idea turns into a good idea with the passage of enough time.
 
In regards to the uploader description, I think using the year in the argument is meant to show that it’s time to move on and stop complaining about something that you know good and well will never be changed.
