Being Close-minded isn’t going to help at all, but if you don’t like Flash Sentry, then I suggest NOT telling others to be deluded, because not only are you committing a logical error (straw man), but you’re also hurting people’s feelings.
 
If you say he’s a blank state, isn’t most of the background ponies are (even ourselves)? People are given the chance to write about them, make their own personalities about them, show it to the world, see what others think about it. That’s what ‘fan fiction’ is all about, that’s what a ‘fandom’ can do. Do you know how dull it would be without it?
 
And if you say he’s like some stereotypical boyfriend/character affiliated with the protagonist, you remind me of this guy:

They had 2 full movies to give him some depth, I highly doubt anything will change in their formula, though I wouldn’t like to see flash’s face longer than it’s required, I guess I have my mind set about brad and there’s nothing they can do with him to make him likeable for me.

Well, that depends on your point of view. Given how much Hasbro wants to advertise, it is more than likely that Flash Sentry remains the Brad we love to hate. But given how innovative DHX Media actually is, there may be a point where Flash Sentry is given more depth.

Blank characters being developed is what this fandom is made of! Look at all those BG ponies given obsessive traits personalities from fans, Lyra, Bonbon, Vinyl, Octavia, Dr Hooves Generic Brown Stallion #5, Berry Punch, Cloud Kicker, Colgate/Minuette, Dinky, Derpy, and more. Granted, some of them are better than others, but they were blank slates that the fandom latched onto and turned them into characters that many love, many hate, and some don’t care about. The blankness allowed fans to turn them into something.  
Granted, a lot of that something is “OMG lezbianz” but you gotta admire the effort, even if you don’t like them.

if you think that a blank character cannot be developed then you sir have no imagination, just because he is a stereotypical boyfriend doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any past or anything or cannot be developed, what he requires is awakening, he should try to be useful to the plot, i mean look at groose from legend of zelda skyward sword, he is your stereotypical bully who hates the hero for having what he don’t, yet that didn’t stop him from helping the hero at the time of need.
