This is a fucking show about Friendship and Kindness, do you seriously fucking think that Celestia is a cruel despot just because there’s no conclusive evidence that she isn’t? It would be completely out of place in the show, and not once during it’s run has she acted in any way that could be classified as repressive or authoritarian. And the scenarios that you have in your head where she totally sends Pinkie Pie to a Gulag for failing to met a party quota don’t count because most of us aren’t schizophrenic.

So, basically, there’s no evidence to support your claims, but you’re not convinced by the evidence that disproves them, therefore, Celestia is Mussolini.

Does Equestria have a Gestapo, Stasi or KGB? Is the rule of law arbitrary? Is dissent repressed through extra-judicial methods? Does it abide by a revolutionary ideology that seeks to transform society? Has Celestia ever imprisoned anyone for showing her in a less than favorable light?*

*If she did, “then the Cutie Mark Crusaders would probably be rotting in a dungeon right now.

1. Why have a secret police when you have all manner of magical spells and artefacts that can detect thoughtcrime many miles away? Without one such artefact, Cutie Map wouldn’t have been possible in the first place.  
2. It could be, and most likely is. We don’t have any evidence of a universal code of law, but we do have evidence of an autocrat who can make whatever decisions she likes regardless of what anyone or anything else says.  
3. We’ve never seen dissent in the first place, so claims can’t be made either way, although the utter lack of open dissent should raise a few eyebrows.  
4. Non-sequitur. Reactionary/ultra-conservative regimes can be totalitarian as well.  
5. We don’t have evidence of such, but we do have evidence that it’s not outside the realm of possibility.  

I am not being pedantic. If a state does not meet a certain criterion, it cannot be considered totalitarian. It can be considered dictatorial and repressive - yes - but totalitarian is a specific label that cannot be applied to every single dictatorial or undemocratic state.

Unfortunately, we can’t base our arguments on what we’d prefer to be true instead of what actually is true.

She kind of does, to the same extent that other totalitarian regimes have in the past. Equestria has more in common with totalitarianism than not, going by your own source.

And just FYI, being pedantic with definitions for the sake of skewing the argument in your favour doesn’t fool anyone.

I’d like to think Equestria has some sort of parliament that we’ve never seen (because most little girls aren’t interested in parliamentary politics), however.

Totalitarian? Last time I checked, Celestia doesn’t seek to control all aspects of her citizens lives or ideologically indoctrinate them, nor does she aspire to do so. By definition, she kinda’ has to.

Totalitarianism doesn’t just mean “odious dictatorship”: it means a very specific sort of odious dictatorship.
