My understanding is that Rainbow doesn’t have an issue with cuteness. It’s just that those flowers were obnoxiously cute. Like I said, I myself found them really creepy and a large part of that is because of how they seemed designed specifically to be cute, and I just find that weird and off-putting.
@wildrook
But in what way has Rainbow Dash showed that there can be too much cuteness?
It’s a common trope that the ‘cool’ and ‘awesome’ character, who’s all for action and excitement, really really despise cure things … I get that part – but I haven’t seen Rainbow being this kind of character.
That it’s supposed to be a joke of the surprisingly expected situation … but to me, it just came off as odd, and not at all how I’ve seen Rainbow act before.
And Luna had no problem with the cuteness, and mane 6 don’t have a problem in this comic. So I don’t see how your argument works.
Her instance of a nightmare is a satire of most cartoons geared towards younger children: Almost DIABETIC in nature to the point where the creators shoot themselves downhill.
This isn’t an instance of her hating cute things. This is an instance where the cuteness is overwhelming her senses to the point where she can’t STAND it. Hence, why it’s torture.
@Liggliluff
Firstly, they don’t exist. They’re a mental manifestation of her greatest fear. Secondly, that being anything girly. She really doesn’t like feminine things, or have you not been watching the show? XD
I’d argue that it really depends on whether or not you found those things cute. I certainly didn’t. I mean, I know a lot of people did find them cute, but I just found them really unsettling.
@WM-R
If Rainbow just got bored of the new dream – then that would be something I would consider ‘in character’.
If there’s no action, or excitement, Rainbow might get bored of it.
But afraid/scared/disguised by the cute? Nah…
Not many people play up the Chaos Gods’ positive aspects, which is a pity. Khorne representing military pride, honour and brotherhood, Tzeentch’s hope, change and evolution, Nurgle giving rebirth, perseverance and determination…
