Damn good question, and the first on my mind after re-watching this scene! A human analog would be Mama Cass sporting a pair of the Olsen twins’ legs!
If it were closer to “real life,” she’d be waddling, having to ‘twist’ herself like a morbidly-obese person. Not that I find that sort of thing funny or entertaining, but it’s an observation. Check your local Wal-Mart for examples.

She actually makes me think about something Lauren Faust said in an interview once, about originally wanting the ponies to all have different body shapes because that would be more true to life, so to speak.
And I agree, the scene goes by pretty fast, but no one in the boutique laughs at her or makes fun of her. Her presence isn’t greeted with everyone in the store turning in horror or the floor creaking in a desperate struggle to hold up. She just startles Rarity and Sassy when excitedly asking about a princess dress, and when it turns out to be discontinued she happily goes off to browse for something else, with no one acting like she shouldn’t be in there.
Also, with Rarity’s creativity and generous nature, I bet she’ll leave that boutique looking (and feeling) like as much of a princess as any of those other ponies.
Neither of them makes fun of her size; they’re just surprised that she’s so big, and let’s face it, objectively speaking she’s probably the largest pony we’ve seen in the show so far. If you were at work and a guy who was 8 feet tall and weighted half a ton walked in, you’d probably be surprised too.
She’s ‘‘ridiculously’’ light on her hooves, so I’m thinking that she’s not actually fat. She just works at a balloon factory and there was an incident.
I think this character is adorable. Just look at her trot on her tiny little legs. Look at them.
Anyway, this show didn’t make a joke against overweight people. She was reacted to the same way anyone else would be; And that’s the right way to treat people anyway. Yeah, being overweight isn’t healthy, but mocking and teasing people for it isn’t good either. Which, thankfully, this show doesn’t do.
I can imagine that if they didn’t cut to credits, she’d be like: Are you really not selling any more, or do you not want to admit you don’t have any in my size?
@Telaros
The show didn’t really imply anything of the sort, they were merely happy to say NO to more “Princess dress” requests.
Then again, if you want to push it that far, just look at Japan!
All those healthy and long living people with no fat in sight simply because ridiculing everyone who puts on even very small amount of weight is the proper social behaviour inside the family.
@Telaros
That was a joke about she definetely couldnt wear the dress but people on both sides are either too happy to make oh so original Tumblr joke or cry FATSHAMING nowadays that i feel the writers are going to regret this joke very soon
That’s right kids, if you see someone not as skinny as you, LAUGH at them! Laugh and ridicule them all until they either vomit back to acceptable magazine photoshop levels of socially ideal weight or fall into the depths of depression and eat themselves further into obesity and die a fat lonely miserable death! :D
It’s okay, that’d only mean one less SJW on tumble whining about how they aren’t getting their way in life. Good cheer, Rarity and Sassy. You put obese mare in her place. Deny her ALL the dresses! :D
