The initial tags on your uploads aren’t counted in metadata updates. This may be why I’ve seen some people tag bare minimum first and then add a ton of tags afterward (aside from wanting to “FIRST POST”).

That is rarely, if ever the case, those instances are simply to be the fasted uploader.

I usually do it if I’m In a rush and know that I can get back to I in a short amount of time. Like when my computer is dying, but my phone is charged. I upload it with a few tags first before fonishing up the job on my phone.

Why would that be, if it had the same edit history feature that comments and posts do?

Because what you sent in the mail is what you sent in the mail. If you want to correct it later, you can send another message with the correction.
 
We already have enough people telling others to die in horrible ways and then editing it to “have a nice day”, and then flipping tables when their original post “somehow broke a rule but it didn’t because I edited it”.
 
Also, seriously - you think being able to change what you said to someone in the past is a good idea?

Maybe that’s just not how I usually look at PMs; maybe it’s just because the interface is so similar, but I’ve always thought of it as just another way to make posts on the site, just in the form of a private conversation instead.
 
Again, as long as both people can clearly see the revision history (and maybe have editing time-limited like comments), I don’t see why that’d be a huge issue.

I have something to ask of this whole business about editing conversations in PMs.
 
A while ago, I asked in the Discord support channel if any staff members could red-text delete bits of a conversation the way that they with forum posts and comments. Both byte[] and TSP said that the answer was no, and that I should be careful to not ever need such a thing. If we’re going to implement a tool that allows us to edit PMs, can we implement a tool that allows us the mods to delete them if they should be given access to them?

I’m a fan of the “You can’t undo something you say to someone else once you’ve said it. You can move on from it, but your past is your past” approach.

It’s a chat program/site, this site is more like what a forum would have.

There are a number of sites that let you edit PMs after you’ve sent them before. FA, Ekas, and some others. Though all of those sites dont allow editing once the note has actually been read by the other user.

Learn how to proofread before reflexively slamming [Send] and avoid posting while drunk, problem solved.
