There has been an information leak in publicly-accessible database dumps available from 2019-07-26 to 2019-09-28.
In addition to our API, we share partial database dumps with the community to help assist individuals in archiving the site and for statistical or learning purposes. Such database dumps are intended to only contain information that is normally visible to all on the site. However, they incorrectly included the uploader ID for all images uploaded with an account, not taking into account uploader anonymity; as a result, it would be possible to correlate images uploaded anonymously using an account with that uploading account.
This error was corrected soon after being discovered, but 2 months of information intended to remain private being accessible is no joke and we deeply apologize for this mistake. No private account information (such as email addresses, IP addresses, or password hashes) was leaked, and the uploader ID cannot be used to gain access to this information.
