I think there is a good chance I would. Opinions on what the fandom is like now aside, the big draw for me was always that it was just a good show, and that reason more than any other is why I kept watching it when I first decided to give it a try all those years ago. Coming in late does not diminish quality, after all.
That’s not to say the fandom issue is entirely irrelevant, of course. There’s a steeper learning curve these days, I think, on some things, and some of the fun stuff/drama/well known incidents that occurred way back when the show was new would be harder to pick up on second hand. Still, there have been other fandoms I’ve meandered my way into after the thing they’re based on has existed for some time, and in most cases I’ve found that (given enough time) you can learn pretty much anything you really need to know. That’s assuming you don’t pay too much attention to the people who are sure (for approximately the 15th time) that their fandom only has months left in it.
