Is MLP the best cartoon of the 2010s?

It’s easy to appear better when a) it’s allowed to be serial rather than episodic, and b) the episodes are only 11 minutes long. But that’s not to say it’s worse, only to say it’s apples and oranges. (I’d say apples and strawberries, but apples actually are better, if you mean better at being disgusting.)
 

 
MLP has superior character design and other artwork. And individual episodes are generally better, because they’re twice as involved and they have a much larger cast to work with. SU has a better overall plot, because MLP was specifically made not to have an overarching plot, to provide leeway for episodes to be shown out of order. I don’t think either has a clear edge in characterization, both have very endearing protagonists and very miserable villains, with good redemption arcs where appropriate. MLP has had a couple bad redemptions too, but they’ve had a lot more of them, so it’s hard to say their hit/miss ratio is actually worse.
 
Personally, I think MLP is better, but I tend to favor characters over plot. Overall, though,
 

A) Steven Universe is little bite of both Serial & Episodic specially multiple episode arcs B) SU can do more in 11 ministers then MLP FIM can do in 22 minutes that’s very impressive in my book
 
 
I would argue that SU has better design & more complex design too mainly with Fusions & newer Gem characters. individual episodes are decent at best with really with Brony goggles off, agree SU has a better overall plot, MLP was specifically not made to have an overreaching plot but despite that as season 4 showed something like that can easily be integrated, SU has better characterization the main cast plus even few support characters have backstory that are little more complex then most of the cast of MLP FIM really, so more thought out character development since the character development in SU is spread out between episodes within the same season with the main MLP cast it feels like they must do all character development in just one episode & skip a few steps in the process. also agree on & yes its wait & see but I can wait let rebecca take her time getting there
 

 
I like SU better then MLP FIM since in a lot of ways SU is basically with less limitations

If we’re asking this in 2012, I would answer MLP without a doubt. But after the seasons 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 and the Equestria Girls films, I don’t think so.
 
Gravity Falls is much better and it didn’t need 6 seasons and a character like Starlight. Steven Universe is longer, but it has a lot of creative stuff. And Friendship is Magic is constantly losing a huge part of its charm. Pinkie Pie is annoying and that’s what people want, changelings are not what you were thinking, Starlight is not a very interesting character, they’re changing the personality of the characters “because kids stuff”…

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is one of the best shows ever made. Along with The Walking Dead.

I haven’t really seen those shows. So, I can’t comment or speculate. But, I am sticking by what I said. Not saying that the shows you mentioned aren’t good. But, like I said. I haven’t seen them, so I can’t give my own opinion on that.

I honestly don’t watch other cartoons on a regular basis so my opinion is no doubt heavily skewed, but I will say that no other cartoon since the Saturday morning Sonic the Hedgehog series in 1993-4 has made me sit up and pay attention like FiM has. It has virtually all the elements that make a good cartoon, and I feel lucky to be alive to see it.

No other cartoons really interest me, honestly. I look at stuff like Steven Universe and Regular Show, etc. and can tell they’re really not my style. I’m not into the animation style or the stories they’re trying to tell.

Steven Universe is very similar to MLP FIM even was praised by Mike Vogel[former Vp of Hasbro animation, writer on the show & co writer on the MLP movie] on several occasions I even wrote his latest praise of SU on twitter earlyer in this thread even if the writers on watch & even praise show like SU maybe you should give it another look

I’m trying to straddle the line here and not rule out watching those shows, but I honestly have better things to do. As it is I have trouble fitting in MLP during my day. I don’t want to shit on shows I haven’t seen yet, because I know people are going to call me out on it. People already have, so I don’t want to say I’ll never see them, but right now I just don’t have any interest in them.

I think Star Vs. the Forces of Evil is better. Of course, I still prefer MLP

The concept of “best” is quite subjective, so it’s difficult to determine it. In my opinion: no, it’s not the best show out there if I refer to it in writing aspects, though in animation I’d say that is one of the more polished and detailed if we are talking about Flash; if you watch closely to the background scenes of many shows, either the characters are static or there’s nothing happening, which in MLP has a lot of life and even secondary stories, and that is one of the things that I like of the series; how vivid it is.
 
 
But even if in writing (and one of the most important things to have in mind) is not the most impressive in the 2010’s, FiM is the one who had more impact in my life and which I have more affection to. These last considerations has more weight for me so, in a way, emotionally it’s the best of this decade.
