and as I pointed out, they already did something similar to this by basing the characters on G1 while wearing the skins of characters in G3. And we only know 6 characters so far in G5, which is rather small considering MLP casts. Tales had a bigger cast, to give an example.

Re-using names from previous generations has always been a thing, but I can definitely see a case being made for characters being carried over down to their voice actresses to try and catch lightning in a bottle twice. Did any of them even make their goodbyes?

Spike appearing in some form at some point is a guarantee, but that’s about all I can think of. Beyond thatn the Mane 6 returning in some form, and what we already know (Applejack’s personality is what Babs Seed could have been, the different races live in different universes) it’s anything goes.

I’ve been thinking about an alicorn pantheon in g5, all siblings.
 
And i wonder if it would be weird to have cadance and flurry still be there.

It would be weird in general as I don’t expect anyone but the Mane 6 and Spike to return outside of one-off roles like Toola Roola, at least until Season 2.

I hope some of the secondary characters get reincarnated so to speak in the new generation. Trixie, Cozy Glow, Vinly Scratch in particular.

If we get changelings in G5, would you want Chrysalis again or a new queen, or no queens at all?

The Changelings were weird. Up until Season Six, they were nothing more than an entry in the Monster Manual; shapeshifters that feed off love. IMO, it was the defeat of Chrysalis and their struggle to build a new identity for themselves that made them interesting.
 
Meanwhile, Chrysalis is at her most interesting when it’s just her, and she has to creatively use her powers. Having a character that’s all about stealth and deception be the leader of a massive army actually limits the sorts of stories you can use her in.
 
I don’t think changelings work as a civilization. I think they work much better alone or in small groups (or “cults”). The idea of forging a new identity worked for them, but I think there are better topics for them.

I have been thinking in the first for my AU, and even thought up their concept of a person. It may be possible - but their identity would have to be completely dissociated from the body shape _{(Changelings would probably relate well to Platonism and the theory of forms)}.
 
However, that would require that one have a sufficiently strong grip on their own identity before beginning to transform, and enough knowledge of their own normal shape for when they need to turn back (which would make this guy’s excuse completely plausible). And long-term deception would require that, plus enough mental fortitude to not to end up losing track of one’s self along the way.
 
And of course, to properly work as a society, they’d have to have means to recognize each other even through the disguises. All of that would require them to only begin transforming once they reached maturity. _{(and would effectively rule out stuff like what nymph!Pharynx did , but that’s why it’s not just a headcanon anymore)}

They actually wanted to call Rob to direct the G5 movie, but I think he declined because he’s busy with other projects.
