You realize that it was something that would have happened regardless? It was in Lauren Faust’s original vision, and writers did their best to keep her vision at the most they could. That she stayed or she left, Twilight becoming Celestia’s successor was something that would have happened in any case. Just live with that or find another show to watch please.

Thank you for reminding about what Lauren Faust’s original intention was. I think its respectful that the writers wanted to include that after everything that has happened in the show but then there’s the afterthought that this will give Twilight and her friends zero free time for anything else. A friend of mine already sent me a short fanfic about that.  
And why would this make me want to watch another show? I’m watching till the very end.

A better, more beliveable introduction instead of just Celestia saying “Oh, by the way we Luna and I are going to retire and pass Equestria’s reins to you, no pressure lol.”

I get why she freaked out over the prospect of all that considering that it’s literally ruling over a land filled with ponies from different towns and cities and managing the negotiations between the different species that are just starting to open its borders. Plus, she had her friends by her side to help her so overall, I think it would’ve been fine, but the execution could’ve been a bit better.

Yeah exactly, so Twilight had every right to freak and hyperventilate her friggin lungs out. If she can’t handle planning a festival about swans, then imagine an entire country.

it kind of paints celestia in a pretty bad light when you think about it. so she completely disregards the well-being of the crystal empire to “test” her student in one episode, and she completely disregards the well-being of equestria by pawning it off on her student at the last possible minute in another. we… are supposed to believe she cares about her subjects, right?

Don’t forget barely helping Twilight while Discord reigned again and turned the Mane 5 the opposite of their elements, almost traumatizing an animal lover by playing along with her pet bird who caught on fire in front of the shy character’s face, sending in Discord to stop Tirek only for him to backstab Equestria, barely connecting with her own sister causing both to grow bitter towards each other, getting captured easily by a group of shapeshifters leaving Equestria’s only hope to be a neurotic and impulsive former dictator, going along with Twilight’s plan on freeing her husbando which in turn led to freeing an aura of darkness, following a racist guideline to build a school, all those times where she could’ve stepped in and saved the day and in general being a terrible actress.

wow, that was brutal and cutting even by my standards lmfao. fingers crossed, though: maybe we’ll see her drop the beatdown to end all beatdowns in the finale. imagine her saying “so twilight’s the princess in charge of equestria now. i guess that means it’s her turn to sit it out”, and cue rock music for her to rock grogar’s ass too.

Well I don’t hate Celestia actually (at best, I’m indifferent towards her; Cadence best princess) I’m just pointing out all the morally dubious things she’s done that led up to this moment. XD
 
But like you mentioned, hopefully she’ll be more useful later on, preferably by the finale.

I see. Celestia did say that she couldn’t think of any other pony suited for the job. But then comes the thought of “So does this mean Twilight and her friends have zero free time from here on out?”

Now I want to avoid painting Celestia in any kind of bad light since she’s the biggest punching bag for that since the fandom began. In fact, my intention for this topic was not to bash Celestia. But saying that her decision might have been irresponsible with Celestia not realizing the consequences of her decision, I think she would own up to it.

I actually applaud the season 9 premiere for having Celestia actually ACKNOWLEDGE that she had made a mistake and that Twilight wasn’t ready yet, even if she would be soon, instead of trying to pass it off as another test.

Honestly, I don’t care if it was Faust’s vision. It was a bad idea then and it’s a worse idea now. On top of the idea being bad the execution was terrible. The parts of Twilight being told she would take over the kingdom is legitimately some of the worst writing the show has had.

i never-the-less wish they wouldn’t downplay character flaws the way they do. they write these flawed characters, but then act like they don’t have these actual flaws. for example, princess celestia: her heart’s in the right place and she does tons of good, but she makes constant leadership mistakes, likes to bullshit to save face, can’t fight her way out of a wet paper bag, makes foolish decisions based on personal bias, and of course has the acting talent of jaden smith. now, that to me is a perfectly well-balanced character: sympathetic, deep, engaging, interesting, has flaws to create conflicts and to overcome. what do they do with that, though? hey shut up she’s perf.

I feel fairly confident it would only get a bunch of downvotes if they were actually paired with the people the series itself had paired them with. Because how dare anyone depict Rarity and Applejack with anyone but each other, apparently.
 
I mean, seriously, I get people wanting it and shipping it and all of that stuff, but based on the description the only reason that picture even exists is because of a “take this Hasbro!” attitude, which is ironic considering the creative team for the series basically admitted to doing the whole thing for a bit of lighthearted fun. It’s the kind of situation that just kind of adds to the irritation I already feel at how much bickering there’s been over rarijack and the flood of artwork that’s been pushed for it.
