I swear some of you people don’t have any idea about the central theme of the entire show. Think for 5 seconds and wonder what moral brainwashing a pony to save others would send. Hell Celestia forbid any brainwashing in Keep Calm and Flutter On, and that was with Discord.

Exactly. They already tried to talk her down and it did nothing. Going by what’s been established about her character in the premiere, Starlight Glimmer is a lost cause and the only way to redeem her would be for the writers to completely ignore what they’ve established about her in the premiere and just make shit up about her character as they go along…

I was under the impression that the central theme was “friendship”, not “the social contract is a complete joke and you can commit any crime up to and including attempted murder and get away with it”.

Not that there wouldn’t be precedent for them doing so. Whatever Discord did in the past, it hasn’t stopped the Mane 6 from being all cuddly with him.

No, I think what they have a problem with is Glimmerdemption, period. That’d be the same regardless of how they handled Discord.

Maybe it was because she was in the middle of a massive breakdown of rage? Get her into a mood of despair first maybe with her own time fuckery causing her homeland to turn into a world of strife.

I’m not doomsaying. I don’t necessarily think this will “ruin the show”. The episode hasn’t even come out yet. What I’m saying is that attempted murder isn’t the kind of thing that should be forgiven.

Also I seriously wish people would stop trying to 100% apply our rules and morals into Equestria. I really doubt a fantasy setting would follow many of the same rules.

And I don’t really understand the second half of your post. Why shouldn’t human morals apply in Equestria? How would the show be enjoyable or comprehensible to us humans if they didn’t?

I mean people wanting to have Equestria follow general Western laws IRL 100%. By that logic Luna should be hanged on the gallows for treason and Trixie getting a massive prison sentence.
 
I’ll just be calmly waiting for the finale and the lovely aftermath that will ensue.

Equestria obviously doesn’t run on US law. In fact, I headcanon toplessness being perfectly legal in anthro versions of Equestria. Yes, imagine the girls running around topless. But that’s probably just me being a guy.

Laws and morals aren’t the same thing. If “Equestria being unlike Earth” means “attempted murder can just be swept under the rug”, then I’m not going for it.
