The My Little Pony Movie

@Hollowfox the Stallion
I don’t feel like you would agree with any arguments I make. Personally, I enjoyed “Moana” and “Frozen” far more than “My Little Pony: The Movie,” and I didn’t feel the latter represented the show’s best qualities. Many reviews are overly dismissive, but I found it tedious, and so I can understand why it got mixed reviews.

tbh Frozen wasn’t great and the only reason it made so much money is because it’s Disney who spends millions on Advertisement and have close to a monopoly on the film industry.
Also, not to be rude but do you ever not act pessimistic towards the show?

@Mikey
I think you’re underestimating how much people like “Frozen.”

I’m optimistic towards the show when I’m enjoying it. I didn’t enjoy it much in 2016. If I have some fun with season 8 then you’ll probably see my tone change significantly.

I don’t usually post in threads about the movie because I know I don’t have anything to contribute. I saw Hollowfox over there was confused about the critical reception, so I thought that might be something I could respond to without intruding too much on everyone’s fun, since they brought it up. Maybe I was mistaken.

@Thrond
Well, The reason I was so “confused” about the critical reception is because critics do not see that the film is faithful to the source material compared with the likes of other Hasbro films such as Bayformers, Jem and the Holograms, G.I. Joe and Battleship, which critics disliked it for not being faithful to the source material.

Also do you prefer MLP as a show or as a film?

If i didn’t give a shit about critical reception, I wouldn’t know the fate of Hasbro films or even DC films whether they be like “Fuck the haters we can turn our IPs into feature films all we fucking want” due to toy sales/B.O. sales or they give in to the haters and stop making films altogether.

Yes I like it, but I don’t matter in terms of public onion. (You get the joke)

Well, that’s fine, even if I wish there was a way to see TV shows on a big immersive screen rather than a small one.

Oh, and here is another reason why I got confused at the reception, because Disney and Lego (except Ninjago) gets all the love and fame from critics compared to DC, Mattel, Sony and Hasbro.

Also, is there more to a film adaptation than just being faithful to the source material?

They will and do.

Let the critics think whatever they want.

You like what you like.

Movies, like all art are subjective.

They take criticism from critics and the praise from fans.

Again, bringing up the IGN review that was shit. Or the variety review that was clickbait.
