Also, that “fandom retraction” thing is a thing I’ve noticed to a much lesser extent in Touhou, where newer characters are less popular. For example, Ringo has 747 posts on Danbooru, and has been around for a year or two (Mind you, that’s still better than Snowdrop over here)
 
Maybe that’s why other characters like Plaid Stripes and Puppysmiles don’t get the love they deserve.

Probably because we’ve seen Trixie before Starlight, thus she has a clear identifiable character that can bounce off others in a unique way instead of just being a poor amalgamation of past characters as a lazy attempt to change things up.

Trixie doesn’t deserve the love the fandom gives her. “Oh, she enslaved Ponyville and made the Remane Five suffer, and only apologized to the mare that beat her and didn’t who suffered the least? That’s our Trixie. Starlight, a character that thought she was doing the right thing, and wanted to get revenge on the ones responsible for destroying her home (a goal we usually associate with heroes), but goes too far and stops when she realizes it, and will willing to take any form of punishment that the Mane Six has plan for her? Fyay her! That biyay deserves to die!”

I mostly agree I think. Trixie is pretty conceited. Yet she is so popular in some circles. I’m not sure why. I like her EqG version more because she’s more hammy there. Since that’s all she’s good for

I liked her EG counterpart was evil too. But The Dazzlings helped for that, same the Alicorn Amulet.

Honestly I love more flawed characters, partly because they’re both perfect for cheering on when they try to better themselves, and laughing at when they get humiliated due to their own stupidity. Trixie is perfect for that.

Again, we have to way of proving that the Amulet made her do anything other than the word of the mare that would be punished for it if she admitted it. For all we know, she was in control and knowing full well what she was doing.

If it counts as one, it would be in the second category; it’s mostly based in Middle Persian, but with some foreign words to complement the vocabulary.

I get why people like her, but it seems like they are willing to leap canyons to excuse her actions while chomping down on Starlight’s shortcomings. I don’t hate Trixie, just the fandom’s obsession with her.

That is going a little far. Trixie’s got her flaws, but she’s not evil. None of what she did in “Magic Duel” was remotely in character.
 
She wasn’t that bad in Rainbow Rocks either, even with magic affecting her mind there as well.
