No, she wasn’t out of character at all. She was just being treated as a burden pretty much because of Starlight, even despite the fact that Maud never found her to be a burden before.

Putting aside that I don’t really like Starlight, I really do feel like she was forced into the epiosde. ESPECIALLY when it was revealed Maud unwittingly helped her out.

Although considering how she was acting, it wouldn’t be surprising if Maud was thinking that before.

Maud only thought of her as a burden because she was actually getting along with Starlight, so it was the first time Pinkie was causing a conflict.
 
And that’s another thing. I still don’t think Maud getting along with Starlight is tat out of the blue. I’ve pointed it out time and again, but Maud as written by Conflone has been getting better at interaction. She was getting on with Apple Bloom in Hearthbreakers, including opening up to talk about non-rock subjects to make who she’s talking to feel better.

Pinkie was more flanderized in Rock Solid Friendship than OOC. Flanderization doesn’t always have to be a bad thing. This wasn’t really the case however.
 
I still don’t think RSF is a bad episode. There are aspects of it that I really like. Pinkie just needed to have been written a little better.

I think it depends how you read the episode. I read Pinkie as more desperate in RSF. She wanted Maud to be with and for Maud to not have to live alone in the middle of nowhere, so her need to find a way to appease Maud was stressing her out.

Not really the definition of “flanderization.” Flanderization is a gradual change across a series until a particular trait of a character has become their sole defining trait, which despite what some people will tell you has not really happened with Pinkie despite episodes occasionally exaggerating some of her traits.

I still prefer this Pinkie a lot more in this episode than the one’s like in Filli Vanilli, because at least her behavior was set up for her to learn a lesson in the end. I just wish it could’ve been done better.

I wish the purple haird Octavia clone had more art, she’s pretty.

I don’t give a darn about Applejack’s parents and hopefully this case is closed now.

She was trying to convince Maud to live in Ponyville, so of course she was being frantic and annoying. Everyone has a bad side, and Pinkie is no exception.

There still needed to be a balance between “Extreme Pinkie” and “Grounded Pinkie”. From the episodes very beginning even before Maud considers to move to Ponyville, Pinkie was a screaming obnoxious hyperactive nutcase and she never really dials down throughout. I’m fine with Extreme Pinkie if she’s only used for comedic situations in a scene or two, but to have an entire 22 minute episode filled with her is just way too much.

I have no problem with Rock Solid. Since it didn’t work with the Mane Six, it would need to be someone else, and since Maud and Starlight are both “weird,” it made sense.

Funny enough, RSF probably has my favorite Starlight appearance this season so far.

I’m agree…Starlight has a magnet to “outsiders ponies”. By that Pinkie was very ok with her sister’s new friendship.

I agree, mostly. Pinkie Pie is undeniably good at forging friendships, but in this instance she had an emotional stake in it as well. She really wanted her sister to stay in town, and that lead to her pushing harder on the friendship angle then she probably would have otherwise.

About that moment, I always wondered if Maud was entirely joking there, or if that was some kind of test for Starlight XD

You know, on top of Pinkie being treated as a burden, I also hate how she was under the impression that the only deciding factor for Maud’s potential move to Ponyville was her friendship with Starlight. Like, hey, your own sister lives here, too, and that counts for something, right? No?
 
Pinkie was just better off not being in the episode. Should have just stepped away and let Starlight have it.
