Hi.
First things first: I began to watch this show in November 2011. Back then, I was fucking depressed and I’d like to watch something new. Then, I was totally in love with this TV show. And one of the big reasons was Pinkie Pie. She is a happy pony who likes to make eveyrpony happy. She has great episodes like Party of One, Griffon the Brush off, Over a Barrel, Baby cakes, etc.
When we have only two seasons, of all the episodes I’ve seen, the only one I didn’t like was A friend in deed, mainly beacuse instead of giving us a funny and happy Pinkie Pie, they give us a creepy and annoying character. I didn’t like it, but it was only one episode of all the 52, so no problem.
This is where the problems started to being bigger and bigger. In a moment of the third season, Pinkie Pie was becoming from a likeable character to an annoying screamer: Too many pinkie pies, Wonderbolts academy, the Equestria Girls movies, Pinkie Apple Pie, Rainbow Falls, the beginning of Three’s a Crowd, Simple ways, Filli Vanilli, Cutie Map, the beggining of Inspiration Manifestation… I had found feelings during years, sort of.
Because of this, when we’re talking about the newest episode, I always point that Pinkie Pie wasn’t a funny character, and they said “hater” to me. I personally am not a hater. I just don’t like the way the scripters writes her like some kind of annoying pony. She wasn’t annoying in the first two seasons (except A friend in deed).
When Season 5 started, I was… a few hyped. I mean, I like to see my favorite ponies, but suddenly we have the ending of part 1, when Pinkie Pie TELLS the plan to Starlight, making her something like a traitor. When I point it, they said to me the typical “hater” line and I really did not like the character since season 1, a line I disagree.
Anyway, although Pinkie Pie is not the funny and charming character she was in the past, she wasn’t as annoying as in Season 4… until I watched Party Pooped. In this episode she has some of the scariest and creepiest faces I’ve ever see in the TV show. And don’t forget her classic screams from the Seasons 3 and 4.
Because of it, I’ve decided to talk about it with them, in a spanish forum about My Little Pony. They said to me that she has those expressions because she’s a cartoon. I have two problems with this line:

- Just because a cartoon is a cartoon doesn’t mean she has to make the expressions “made in Ren & Stimpy”, unless you are Adventure Time or (a little bit) Gravity Falls.
- She didn’t make these expressions in Season 1 and 2. And, if she did back then, it was less than 1 second, and that’s it.
In conclusion, Pinkie Pie nowadays is my least favorite character, which is extremely disappointing, because she was my favorite character. Hell, I even made years ago (before season 3) a presentation about the TV show for an hour and I’ve said Pinkie Pie was my absolutely favourite character. What happened to her? What happened to the writters of Pinkie Pie?
My theory is that Hasbro controls too much the show that it says to the writters: “Write Pinkie with some screams and some weird expressions, nothing more”. That reminds me of The Simpsons, its declining quality and the “evolution” of Homer Simpson. Nowadays, expressions and effects are more important than a good story, some good characters and a good moral.
At least we have some good episodes in Season 5, like Bloom and Gloom and The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone (except the rope part of Pinkie, that was stupid). But I really wanted to talk about her personality.
If you like Pinkie like nowadays, that’s really cool. But I miss some details of her. She was charming, adorable, funny, innocent…
Love,
