And while I’m on the subject:

christmas lights -> imply -> christmas
christmas stocking -> imply -> christmas
santa costume -> imply -> christmas
santa hat -> imply -> christmas
jack-o-lantern -> imply -> halloween
trick or treat -> imply -> halloween

And…..
easter , valentine’s day , halloween , christmas , saint patrick’s day , new years , thanksgiving , fourth of july -> imply -> holiday

Hmm… Well. I’m willing to do the implication.
But there’s also “easter eggs” as in video game/video secrets under that tag as well. So I’d like to clean that up first.
Example:
What would be an appropriate name for the hidden secret kind of easter eggs?
Edit: Whoopse, was typing that out, got distracted and didn’t notice the extra posts before submitting. Just a moment~ heh.

Considering that the majority of the images in the ‘easter egg’ tag contain literal eggs for Easter, I think the examples you gave should have their own separate tag. Maybe ‘easter egg(secret)’ could be it? It’d fit in with the other tags that share a name but have parentheses to denote the differences.

How about easter eggs, as in Derpy in the background of scenes, stay as it is, and the holiday treat become “Easter Egg (food)” ?

Either one is fine. I just think that since literal Easter eggs are what the tag is mainly populated by, they should get the main tag and secrets in pics/games should have the “sub”tag as it were, but it’s up to ya’ll.
Plus, if they’re going to be designated as ‘food’, what about the plastic egg-shaped vessels for candies? Or if they’re just painted on like this (NSFW). And if they’re inserted like this (NSFW) should we tag those as ‘foodplay’ now?
Also I guess setting the implications take some time to affect each image’s tags? Like I see the holiday implication was set but not seeing it on the actual images themselves, unless they were previously tagged with ‘holiday’ before I brought this up.

I think if we were going to put a disambiguation on the literal Easter eggs, I’d go for (holiday) rather than (food) to account for decorative ones. However, given that the majority is indeed that usage, I’m also in the camp that
easter egg (secret)
is a good way to distinguish the two. Ciaran

What’s wrong with just using “Easter egg, Easter” to find the ones associated with the holiday?
Easter egg,-Easter for cleverly hidden loot, and Easter egg, Easter for the spring is returning icons?
Is further granularity necessary?

Probably not. I was just giving a better suggestion than “food,” despite going on to say that I didn’t think the Easter-related tag should be modified in any way.

I feel that that further complicates the matter. It’s easier to put in one tag instead of two, either for searching or uploading. And again, literal Easter eggs mainly populate that tag. After just a cursory glance through the first fifteen or so pages, I only saw a handful of images that were hidden objects and not actual eggs.
Plus the way that I suggested would match the rest of the holiday-related items and how they are tagged.

He may have a point, though - implications aren’t set in stone and you can remove a tag added by them, so simply setting the implication and then removing the “Easter” tag from all relevant images should achieve the result we want, without stranding people who would otherwise search for “easter egg” looking for secrets and end up with no results at all.

I’m thinking a separate tag for Secret easter eggs may be worth it, there is over 200 of them. Leaning towards re-tagging them as “Easter egg (Secret)”

“Also I guess setting the implications take some time to affect each image’s tags? Like I see the holiday implication was set but not seeing it on the actual images themselves, unless they were previously tagged with ’holiday’ before I brought this up. “
Just a quick note on this: Implications themselves don’t add any tags to images already tagged. They only affect images that receive the parent tag after the implication is set.
Example: There was 139 images of holiday easter eggs that did not already have the “easter” tag on them. So I had to go through and add them myself. Same is true for all implications. [Which is why some of the larger ones still don’t have all their implied tags on the images]
Some mods tools make it a bit faster, but it’s still a bit of work.
Nother example: There’s now 13,338 images I need to add “holiday” to now~

Aah I see; thank you for clarifying! I didn’t exactly know how the system operates.

I’m kind of in favor of picking whichever one is most popular / commonly used and leaving it as just “easter egg”. I get the feeling like people will continue to just tag stuff as “easter egg” and then there will be three overlapping sets of mistagged pics :P
