Fluffy ponies, to my knowledge, are an old meme from 4chan revolving around the idea of how, at some point in the future,
MLP becomes successful enough for Hasbro to decide to expand the franchise by selling living pets based off of the ponies. A biotech division is opened – creatively called HasBIO – and a breed of hamster-sized, very fluffy pony-shaped things is engineered. PETA catches wind of this, launches a terrorist strike on the HasBIO labs and releases all the fluffy ponies. However, because these things are still in the prototype phase and still imperfectly put together, they’re hideously fragile and very easily killed – they’d make Breezies look like Superman. They’re also ridiculously fertile, enough so to overcome their ridiculous mortality rates, and quickly become a widespread pest species. Most fluffy pony “art” focuses on these things dying in a variety of ridiculous and humiliating ways.
Now, because this art became very unpopular very quickly (and, I assume, because it’s only tangentially related to anything from
MLP itself), it’s hidden on this site by default. Fluffle Puff is not tagged as a fluffy pony because these are a very specific phenomenon with distinct origins and characteristics, which she doesn’t share. I assume that she’s on the spoiler image because the purpose of spoiler images is to hide art one does not want to see, and having that art prominently displayed on every spoiler image would somewhat defeat the spoilers’ purpose.
