Ponies are NOT Aliens

Yet several fanfic writers tend to write them as such, especially in Human In Equestria fics and Ponies In Real Life fics. It’s incredibly annoying to me, because there are only a few stories that I’ve come across where the ponies aren’t portrayed as beings from some border world.
 
To me, the worst example of writing ponies as aliens is (From a human’s perspective.) they speak a foreign language. Seriously, guys? They’re not Vortigants! They don’t talk in some xenomorphic tongue, and there’s plenty of proof in the show: they speak English, just like humans do, and it’s not some kind of translation either.
 
So, to make a long story short, why do HIE and PIRL fanfic writers write ponies as being aliens?

Why would ponies speak English? Do you have any notion of how complex the etymology of practically every single modern word is? Why would that be replicated–word for word, morpheme for morpheme, grammatical structure for grammatical structure–in a different culture?  
 
Moreover, written text in the show is explicitly not in English except for those rare cases the audience needs to be able to read it (“we couldn’t fit it all in”)

Please, we don’t need ‘fanfic police’. There’s plenty of fanfic with stuff I don’t like, but there’s no real point in saying “I don’t like it so you shouldn’t write it”.
 
Seriously, there’s so much drama in the fandom already…

Personally I think it’s just way more convenient to have them speak English. Even if it is pretty unbelievable, that’s a thing I’m more than willing to overlook. I’m not interested in reading some well-thought-out fanfic anyway. If I wanted a realistic alien-encounter thing, I’d pick up a sci-fi book.

First, calm down! It’s not like you’re writing about real people or anything. They’re cartoons! Creations from the minds of other people! So, with that, I have to ask? Why get so bent out of shape because someone thinks of them as aliens? In any other kind of fiction in any other genre they would be aliens! Personally, I do write fanfics about what I have named Equusians which is all inclusive for all ponies all over the planet they live on, not just Equestria.
 
Besides, name me ONE talking, thinking, writing, building, cooking, tool using, dress making, apple picking, song writing, office working, palace living, nation ruling HORSE that ISN’T an alien? And, no, Mr Ed doesn’t count because he lives in a barn.

Well, bless his heart! Yes, I know that self proclaimed authorities on anything may seem annoying to most but, hey, what would the world be without them? We need somepony to pick on, right? (Nah, just kidding.) Still, like any broken clock anywwhere in the world, he’s bound to be right twice a day. ;)

Tell you what, Dragonboi, if you’d like to read some Pony/alledged alien/human in Equestria stuff that doesn’t make Ponies look like aliens in their own world read my WIP and judge for yourself.

No, I’m not advertising. (Really, no, I’m not!) I’m just making a point that not all Pony/Alien/Human In Equestria stories are the same.

We’ll going by the usual rules of HIE, the ponies exist in a sperate universe from”ours”, just like the vortiguants
 
Because they aren’t native to the human world that would actually make them fit under the definition of Alien. Same way a martian is an alien, not native to earth.

Aren’t the majority of these stories written from the perspective of the human(s) in them? For them to regard ponies as aliens of some kind would be the logical conclusion to make. Even if the author didn’t consider that, most writers are human so it comes about on its own anyway

In one of my universes ponies are oni and as such are human, though they appear anthro. Oni (and youkai in general) evolved from humans.

In my Fanfic, the world the ponies are on is actually earth in the past and humanity finds earth.

First off, fucking finally somebody gets how complicated etymology is.
 
Second, I think the ponies are definitely not aliens…for the most part. My standing theory is that the Alicorns are either experiments made by Vorlons, or actually Vorlons themselves, and that the reason they have all three sets of pony traits is that, in actuality, the Princesses genetically engineered the pony tribes to serve as a countermeasure to the chaotic remnants of the monsters left on Earth.

As someone else pointed out technically “alien” is a relative term- and since Equestria is clearly not Earth as we know it (different wildlife, different laws of physics, etc) then to the average human they would qualify as aliens since they aren’t from the Earth we know.
 
As for the language bit- there have been quite a few cases of non-English text treated as fully readable to the ponies on the show, and really who’s to say the show’s portrayal didn’t do some translating work of its own for the sake of viewership?

evveryone is aliens almost all life on earth is from other star systems even our dna is itnerbreed with tons of alien races. so lol and that sounds cool funny though i cant find anything under space. are there any like space fairing stories?

i mean heck a ton of the souls incarnated on earth are from other star systems just most of u have yet to recall this

Dig deeper. There are a few good fics about the origins of ponies in space.
