You know what we call comments like yours? A deflection, nobody is talking about the show here but I guess if you need to bring it up then that means the comics can’t hold their own by themselves and needs the show to carry it.

Going elsewhere or counter-shitposting only makes the problem worse. This thread’s a good start! Your useful-commentary-to-whining ratio has almost risen above 1.0 here.

1. One of the major issues with the comics is (especially with Cook) is the “Go for the joke” mentality but unfortunately has most of their comedy be Pinkie style. I rarely feel like they take anything seriously - even the straightmen, AJ and Twilight.
    
2. They treat the comedy like the show which doesn’t really work because you take in a comment much slower than you would the show - looney tunes type comedy just doesn’t work as well because you linger on a frame much longer, which is why comics generally rely on jokes than visual humor but the MLP comics try too much with visual humor.
    
3. Way too much pop culture references - while the show has pop culture in it, the comics shove them in everywhere and a dramatic scene is ruined when you get a giggle out of seeing Mabel Pony. Completely ruins the dramatic tension.
    
4. Characterization is poor - Twilight is arrogant about her magic (she’s usually prideful about how high a regard ponies regard her, not her skills) and she smack talks (Twilight does not smack talk, that’s Rainbow and AJ to a lesser extent - Twilight does grandoise speeches). Rarity falls for every handsom stallion or quadraped she comes across which just gets repetitive and annoying. Fluttershy comes off more naive than kind. Rainbow Dash is Pinkie Pie light with comments and actions more like her than herself. AJ is okay unless she’s involved in a joke and she doesn’t seem to have any business sense. Pinkie’s actually okay overall - it’s just the visual medium problem with her makes her jokes more flat.
