I think the name thing works better if we say ‘she was named for her aunt’ instead, since Twilight Sparkle is the only member of her family we’ve seen with that naming scheme. I don’t know if I’d count Twilight Velvet, since ‘velvet’ doesn’t fit with Sparkle/Shimmer/Glimmer, and while the ‘Shining’ in Shining Armor fits, the ‘Armor’ doesn’t.
I suppose Night Light’s name kinda fits it, though…

Kinda. If we take that alone. But the OP was describing it as a Yet-Another-Link that connected Starlight with the others. Whereas Sunset just has the one.
If we went by how you described things, we could say the poster was wrong because there are other ponies who are pink.

Or perhaps she WAS raised by Cadance. Perhaps she sees the preferential treatment she received from other ponies due to being a princess as a negative thing, and that’s what sparks her obsession with equality, but she still subconsciously feels she deserves special privileges (her cutie mark & magic) due to being royalty.
Now all these possible plots are flowing through my mind thoughts~
Such as: Twilight does the friendship stuff and reforms Starlight through the finale. And then starlight reveals she is her Niece. And that she was taken from Shining Armor and Cadance as a baby and raised by evil ponies. [Let’s say… Chrysalis, out for revenge. I dunno.] And they both decide that it would cause too much damage/change to the timeline to keep Starlight from being taken as a baby, so instead, shortly after she is taken, the current Starlight comes forward and reveals who she is to her parents. [With Twilight backing up her claim.] And they continue on from there.

Exactly. Perhaps only natural born alicorns can have alicorn babies, and Cadance was born a pegasus (It was said in the book Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell, and Amy Keating Rogers also referenced recently confirmed that backstory here https://twitter.com/KeatingRogers/status/476587638732754945)
It makes sense, one minor problem, she’s not an Alicorn.
Ever wonder why they’re so rare? Perhaps only worthy ponies, such as Twilight, or Cadence? (What’s her backstory? I gather she started off as a Unicorn as well).
Can get to become (mutate), into Alicorns, and Glimmer just hasn’t reached lvl 99 yet.

In that instance Twilight just ended up Causing what she wanted to Prevent. But we don’t know how things will go if one uses Time Travel and knows what they’re doing. Plus the Time Travel described for the finale sounds like it might be different than the spell Twilight used. [That only allowed for a short, couple of minutes long, leap.] But I don’t know for sure.

I don’t believe she ever claimed to know/not know who Twilight was. Though if she WAS intentionally trying to deceive her, she could just be acting.
I believe all she said on their meeting was “I’m guessing it’s princess Twilight Sparkle? We don’t get many Alicorns in our humble little village” Or something close to that~
