I just want to see Chrysalis and her Changelings get redeemed regardless of what we ultimately find out about the Umbrum’s true motivations. Yes, Chrysalis is the kind of villain who won’t give up after the first attempt, especially considering her new obsession with wanting to prove that she’s stronger than Twilight. Which will eventually come down to Chrysalis having to decide what is more important to her, her subjects or her ego.

Yeah, the Badlands is the most popular choice for the Changelings’ current residence. (And as I said before, I also think that Chrysalis allows her subjects to breed with each other. She has more important things to look over than just constant sex.)

Well, I imagine you’re thinking of their home colony, probably somewhere in the Badlands, where they keep all their shit, as well as their mates and their offspring (because I still seriously doubt Chrysalis is the only one breeding all these buggers)
 
Changeling Broodmother, mate to one of Chrysalis’ Lieutenants: (to Las Pegasus Husband or Wife, walking by with an overflowing laundry basket) “Don’t worry, honey, you learn to tune it out after about six weeks. Vodka’ll help.”

Chrysalis may still have her concerns about the umbrum, but at least Cadence took cover behind the throne so Sombra could not do to her what he did to Celestia and Luna and nearly did to Twilight before his strength gave out on him.
 
Now that Cadence has overheard that little bit of exchange between Sombra and Radiant Hope, this might just be the opening needed to turn things around and return Celestia and Luna back to flesh and blood.

Regarding all the “Hope is an idiot” speculating (yes, speculating. We have no proof the Umbrum are manipulating her… yet.), here is an alternative possibility:
 
The Umbrum used to be evil tyrants, that cannot be denied.
 
They have spent over 1000 years in prison for their crimes. Could the time in prison have changed them for the better? Maybe they aren’t a threat anymore and are honest about just wanting to get out.
 
Chrysalis judges them by their past actions, and both her and Sombra are projecting some of their own personality traits onto them. Chrysalis and Sombra both think that Changelings and Umbrum are completely evil by nature, and that they themselves must be evil by nature too. But if Radiant Hope is right about the Umbrum, maybe there is a chance that Changelings can be be redeemed as well (Kevin is already proof that it’s possible for individual changelings).

Nah guys, there’ll be a lot of things to be hated about the “bad guys united” line but Hope is NOT one of it. I think Hope is the best part of all this actually.
 
Yeah I bet there’ll be a lot of badly written bits for her, a ton, but I like those little “you’re not a monster”/“I have a plan” parts.
